The Pallion Stallion

Central Defender
Morning folks.

Me & Mrs Stallion have a little 8-week cockapoo who we got a week ago. He’s been class up until this morning (been doing his business outside etc) when we’ve found he’s shit all over his pen and started pissing on the carpets. He was doing so well but he seems to have regressed a bit now, the little shit

Is regression normal in pups?? Any advice greatly appreciated.

Treats when it goes outside works. Shouting at or braying them just makes them think you're a twat. It should just be a phase either way. Just a shit filled one

He's a bit young to have left his mother at seven weeks old.

Just keep on with the training. Keep putting him outside regularly and getting ridiculously excited when he does a poo or wee outside. You'll sound like a complete tit but it really helps the dog understand where he should be doing it.

He’s had a bit of a dicky stomach lately like, loose poo’s and that so we’ve not bothered with treats until he starts producing something a bit more solid.

We don’t shout at him like. We know that’ll only make him hate us.

Get some of the enzyme cleaner stuff to make sure you get rid of the smell of where it has pissed ... stops them going back there.

Sorry, didn't mean to sound as though you do. Just meant it happens generally when people have a puppy shitting all over
I just use dry biscuit she normally has fur normal meals as a treat.

We know Becs but we got the little fella from down south, so with Boris Johnson introducing the lockdown the breeder suggested we come sooner rather than later. We weren’t supposed to be picking him up until tomorrow. She had done all the checks with her vet who gave her the okay. He’s had his first injections, been wormed etc so he is in good health

Oh I understand. I just meant it'll take him a bit longer to learn due to leaving early. I know it's not your fault given the mad circumstances were are living in.

By the way, where are the pics? I need puppy pics to go broody over

No no, didn’t think you were suggesting it marra, just saying we know not to shout. Seen too many instances with my mates shouting and the dogs rebelling.

Your puppy will want to relieve itself very shortly after waking up, a meal, excitement of play etc. You can anticipate that and let her outside in advance. Outdoors is the aim, but early days you can use a disreputable newspaper at the door as a less demanding target, a safety net. So if she’s caught short and goes on the paper you can still reward her, as that’s better than your Persian rug or whatever. Diet and reward as mentioned already. As the trainer I regressed, my puppy didn’t. You’ve got a bright thing in a cockapoo. Tricky time for socialisation/familiarisation, 18 weeks or so to get all those sounds, colours etc in.

Expect it to be shitting and pissing in the house for a lot longer if it is only 8 weeks old. I'd say it is doing very well if it isn't doing it all the time

Tidied, no idea why people who buy these dogs dress it up, think its to justify paying 100s of pounds for a mutt
