Probably the most important anniversary in History

as do most threads on here nowadays. instigated by the same old tedious, boring posters on both sides of the left/right coin.
tbh, this place has been ruined massively of late by those who obviously aren't getting the validation they crave on the politics forum.
Yeah I know. I've thought the same about the politics forum goons not getting their fix of hate over on that board. So they flock to this one to ruin threads.
I just caught up on the university student killed thread and it's got all the things that are wrong with this place now. Someone makes a point, the reply is "you're a f***ing idiot" or similar. Then there's the tedious bores posting just to get a reaction or to annoy. Some of them seem to hate everyone who isn't them. I asked one of them the other week why he posts on here as all he does is snipe from the sidelines. He didn't reply.
There's examples on every thread now and it's why I log on to this place less and less these days.

I aknowledged my mistake but look at how he worded the post using division. I was merely pointing out the fact the people he callsfar right today are not the nazis of yesterday but merely normal people as of those who fought in the war.
Most of those flying the swastika in the 30's started off normal but failed to see how far they were drifting early enough. Possibly the greatest lesson of that war.

A lot of Germans started off supporting the nazi regime as Hitler had turned the economy around from the 20s. Life was improving rapidly for many.

By the time they realised just how evil the regime was it was too late. They were ruling with an iron fist and suppressing any rebellion with imprisonment and torture. There was a fear back then and you couldn't trust anyone as neighbours and co workers were telling on each other.
It all created an atmosphere of fear, hate and distrust. So it wasn't so much they didn't see, many did see, but they were afraid by then to say anything.

The Nazis imprisoned close to a million objectors a lot of them like the Edelweiss pirates group were executed. It was totalitarian and the German public knew what would happen if they turned against the regime.

Sadly we still have similar regimes in countries like Russia and north Korea. Ruling with fear to keep the population in check. It takes very strong people to turn against that form of government. Most of us have a powerful survival instinct though, so it rarely happens. Which is completely understandable.

Another whingy post by the board's moaning Minnie. You chose not to like the OP which was a perfectly fine post paying respect to our lost ones yet you liked the second post. It just shows how bitter and angry you are.

And another post from Tommy Trollpuddle who supports the murdering hammer and sickle soviet regime.
You still upset because of this below? You really are a sad little man pretending to be a Sunderland supporter when you clearly aren't.

No disrespect intended but hasn’t the birth of Christ been more significant?

On a personal level, if I forgot our wedding anniversary then WW3 would ensue.
Ok…. I will accommodate you with a nibble.
No. Christ was / is a fictional being. D-Day actually happened.

The irony is if they were around today they would probably be called bigots etc by the pro noun brigade.
An odd hypothesis.
They were fighting tyranny. A nation murdering millions, starving and torturing many more.
What do you feel would make them classed as bigoted in fighting that today?

I disagree.

10th May 1940 and the Dunkirk evacuation.

If Churchill had not become PM and had not got the troops home, it's likely we would of had a negotiated peace, which would of been a disaster.

My point was he's said we have people today trying to eradicate the freedoms that these brave lads fought for in WW2 without saying who these modern day people are and I can only assume he meant Reform and Reform voters.

If you go to many care homes today that generation can often hold quite severe racist views just because of somebody's skin colour and won't even entertain the thought of eating foreign food. I just find it odd that Reform voters get labelled as Nazis when the men fighting the Nazis in WW2 often had extreme views against foreigners etc as this was often the consensus at the time. So I believe a lot of veterans from WW2 would be called bigots etc.

He should have just started the thread praising those heroes who fought in WW2 instead of having a sly dig and not explaining himself.

There’s evidence of JC existing.

Mods move this thread
It appears right wingers want to turn it onto another political football sadly and I want no part of it

The fact someone laughed at this just shows what this country is becoming.
I imagine many Reform voters just as much as Labour etc lost family members during the war. It was a totally disrespectful post to those who fought in the war and to those who have lost family members. He shouldn't have sneaked in his comment without explaining what he meant by it first and then trying to appear virtuous.

There evidence of both The Turin Shroud being authentic and a load of shite.
I am sure there was a bloke, upon whom the Jesus tale is based. The rest of what became the story is, in my opinion of course, nothing more than a fictional tale… like LOTR.
Even though you are a pagan infidel, I expect that you still give and receive Christmas presents.
