*~*~* Preston v Sunderland match thread *~*~*

Think he was confident with Wilson on the left and wanted to consolidate that .Putting Tommy on the left and him not working and wilson not coming off on the right might have been a dangerous move too far. Connolly needs playing up front and although he struggled i think ( if we look closely enough ) his positioning and movement in the box is coming.

There's no doubt he thought he'd got his selection right, the fact he changed it and we immediately looked better proves that he did actually get it wrong though.

He's got to try things though, and I'm not having a go. The good thing is that he made changes and got us back into a game that looked to be getting away from us.

I see too many similarities with Gelhardt in Connollys case. He's just too small to play upfront on his own. The ball doesn't stick, and tonight, there was no one close to him to play off. I don't think we can afford to start games like that. He'd be used off the bench for me or if we're chasing a game where we would maybe put two up top.

Did he though? He brought fresh players in, to have a go and get time, and brought rested players on, with a point to prove. He freshener it up. Would those players been as active if on for the full game?

Those saying we look constantly poor bear in mind this ends a run of 4 away games in 5 matches played. Horses for courses... not many teams go away from home and blow teams away regularly. In fact we have the best away form in the entire division so that proves that. We are probably abit fatigued as fans watching us set up as the away team, keeping it tight etc - but thought it's worth noting we have had an obscene run of away games which compounds it.
11pts from 15 👏👏👏

I don't think there's any doubt that playing Wilson upfront, Mundle out Left, and Roberts on the right would have seen us play better. I'm not sure what you were watching mate, but the front 3 he did select didn't work.

Fair play to him for having a go, but he changed it because it wasn't working. The subs weren't through design.

On the plus side, Le Bries gave some different lads a game, tried a different formation, it clearly didn’t work and we still got a point and a clean sheet.
Onwards and upwards.

Good point on the road gained. Clean sheet. Performance levels on the road not great but if they’re backed by points and then followed up with performances at home as well then you take it.

Unless Samed is fit and ready after December, another midfielder is an absolute must when the window opens. Don’t think that’ll happen however
One consolation was that we at least nullified their threat in the second half. RLB did address the problems of the first half

Are you seriously comparing the Jack Ross League 1 team to our current team with some of the highest rated young players in England that are currently top of the league

Best fans in the world
I'm saying that thinking it's wrong to criticise the team for two 0-0 draws in a row, both in which we have looked extremely poor and created almost nothing is ridiculous.
