These lads are speaking well. Admire there honesty.
I have a feeling there is going to be no bullshit and what you see is what you get.
People crying about investment but other clubs can do it at this level, it is about being able to get out that division.....that division is division 1. He said invesetment and budget was there for this season.
We not competing in the premier league so calm down

Spot on.
For me both came across well.
Really encouraging and we need to support them and the incoming manager.
At least there is a plan in the making.
I was really pleased with Methven saying that further down the line there were parties interested in coming on board who would bring both expertise and capital.
Promising start.
Now we need the manager in. We need to get that appointment right.

Why not Mic Mac, or is that too obvious?
Out of work, experienced, knows the club well, oh and got a new motor the other week in Boldon:lol:
Why not indeed?! I like big Mick but I've just got a feeling- nothing more than that - that these blokes are going to go with a younger candidate. Hopefully we've only got a few mare days to wait, then all will be revealed. I'm expecting a 'puh' moment - whatever that is - but ya nivva nar.

Lets hope for once short has made the right decision this time ....................i know i will get shouted down on here but i have to say i am underwhelmed by the press conference and the nitty grity of the deal...........it has the whiff of trotters independent traders all over it............. a good budget for the 1st division is 5 million!...I wish it wasnt so but i see masive job losses ahead and a mid table championship club at best.............I wish the buggers well and i will go to all the home matches as long as im able ...but in the cold light of day we aint going to do a wolves and if the shit hits the fan these fellas wont save us from administration.
Nobody is going to come out and state their budget. There certainly,as we've seen, isn't any point in spunking massive amounts of money at this level, this season.

It's not a linear thing, once the club sorts out the wages and everuevery else to be more streamline and hopefully revenue grows as the team improves, then what's proportioate the the relative level will be made available. That's what he's saying.

It's not like, here's 20m,have at it as no more from here....

He did say that basically when they need the funds to compete at a higher level,he's keen to bring other investors in.

Is your full stop key broken?

Watched Look North there, thought the Don and his pal spoke well and sound like they have a plan. So lets ditch the negativity, get behind them and build something proper - the real Sunderland ...............we've been trying to polish turds for too long, I say we embrace the turd as it is, stick a shirt on it and let the bugger do it's thing !

Did you see the crack about the whey eye?

I've just read the transcript of the presser and I've got to say I'm pretty underwhelmed. Great we're debt free but the whole thing feels pretty amateurish. Hopefully I'll be proved spectacularly wrong ;)

amateurish in what way?

it seems people are jumping to the conclusion that we're now owned by someone with no money (in footballing terms) on the back of the deal being secured against the parachute payments (sound business move from Short who was due one i suppose) and the current lack of the 'international investors'

think people unrealistically just want us to start spending an absolute fortune. which is how we got into this mess in the first place. i don't get it
