Premier League viewing figures down 10%

Most of football is boring though isn't it? If you watched every match in La Liga, Serie A, Bundesliga etc you'd find the same thing a lot of boring games. Yet there are games that turn out to be class to watch and the same happens in the Champions League, the playoffs and various cups etc with shit games but then there's ones that are a great watch.

You can go watch a Sunday League game and one time it will be more entertaining that a PL game. Yet another week it could be that shite it could have you questioning your sanity of standing in pissy rain in cold weather watching it.
Which is why I only watch our games, derbies and “the contenders” playing each other.
There’s a bit of quality alongside the edginess in a contender v contender game. While derbies mean more to all concerned at a gut level than owt else so make for the best viewing even when the occasion overrides the quality.
The contenders versus strugglers and mid tablers I’ve no interest in. Ditto games involving solely strugglers and/or mid tablers. Last day desperado games I’ll watch anarl.

Struggler v struggler can be good

10% uptake in dodgy fire sticks. The bloke who heads up the task force trying to stop it all was on radio 5 on Sunday saying they never prosecute the end user it’s the people selling subscriptions that they target. Not sure that’s the right thing for him to be saying if he wants to stop the illegal streams.
I was recently sent information on how to apply for a watchers brief, for Sunderland area. All that was required, was to wonder into establishments and see if they were showing the football match illegally. No confrontation involved, just evidence gathering.
this was a new job(s) due to Sunderlands promotion. (no interest what so ever in the job as I attend the matches).

not prosecuting the end user is similar to not prosecuting the punter in the bar (if there is such an offence). after the people who are making the money as it then makes their prosecution easier.

£50 a year for a dodgy stick or £70 per month for sky ?? Not hard is it.... I've got sky but never pay full price for it.

Those who have a dodgy stick won't fork out for sky though if they shut iptv down. The only way forward is the supposed premier league ran official iptv for day £10-20 per month.
Its not just the cost its thefact sky and other broadcasters incessantly put the big teams on, they'd probably have more joy of selling packages if they dumped the 3pm blackout and let people pay for a season ticket of viewing for their team.

Guarenteed when we do get shown next season it'll be against the big teams where the result is pretty much nailed on
I have the prem games on out of habit, but it's usually in the background.

I do tend to concentrate on the championship games more.
On fairness I've watched more prem league games last season as it was great watching manu or spurs get tonked 😄

I keep seeing people say that demand for PL footy is massive compared to when we were last there, but everyone I know in person and on here says they watch it less and less.

This is the central problem

Fans want excitement, unpredictability, drama

Broadcasters advertisers and sponsors want predictability. The same teams playing each other all the time. Just look at the champions league - endlessly tweaking the format to guarantee the same teams in the final stages year after year.

Eventually fans start and turn off. The Champions league is turgid, and the Premier league is going the same way

Aye, the thing that makes the English game so good (or did I should say) was the unpredictability and the fact bottom could beat top.

The pyramid made it fascinating and daunting in equal measures where pretty much no-one was safe. They’re removing that more and more now.

I got offered a Firestick the other day (through an acquaintance, as I was watching the PL on their TV). I have no idea, who the person is or where he/she is even located (I think located in France, as I was at the time).
I guess it would be very hard for the authorities to find him/her 🙄
