Premier League Next Season

Going to be a tough one I think as apart from the newly promoted clubs there doesn’t look to be any current premier league teams you would see as obvious candidates to struggle.

League is much of a muchness between 6th and 15th and only 8 points in it. With Leeds at the bottom of that group looking very strong recently.

You could make a case for all 3 of the teams below them being far better.

Forest have been excellent since Pereira and have a good team which they are now showing in the league and Europe. Their chairman is probably their biggest risk if he creates the same instability as this season but can see them being better.

West Ham potentially have a risk as are apparently facing some financial challenges but still have a decent team on paper.

Spurs, like Forest, if they can keep some stability with their managers and just get some players back fit they would likely be at least mid table with their squad even without any summer investment.

From the current crop I’d probably rather West Ham stay up just as I think they are most likely to struggle again then Spurs. Apart from them I can’t really make a case for anyone - Maybe Brentford only because Gut feeling is they rely heavily on Thiago and he may go but they are 6th and well run so also maybe a bit strange to pick them out.

I know it was said for us and we felt quite derogatory but I do think both Ipswich and Cov have a massive job on their hands (plus whoever comes up with them). Unlike us Cov have already signalled they won’t spend huge and arguably have only a couple of premier league standard players. I don’t expect Ipswich to approach the window much different to last time.

Apart from the promoted 3 it feels like it will be a very strong division with little to separate the rest of the pack before you get to the very top 3/4

Serious issues at the Landfill. IMHO.

If Silva leaves Fulham I can see them being dragged down the wrong end of the table, losing Wilson too on a free. Maybe Palace too if they get Europa League through winning conference this season

Palace have to replace Glasner too, who has been outstanding for them.

A number of issues with the squad, players wanting to leave, players out of contract, players that are knocking on, players that are on massive money and are are shite. Plus one trick pony Eddie probably staying on and presumably still with a big say in transfers.

With the usual managerial merrygo rounds, anything can happen.

We know both palace & Bournemouth will have new managers, which if they make a bad appointment can get dragged into it.

Similar things said about Bournemouth ( lost their 3 defenders and then their best attacker)
Brentford lost their manager and their best strikers/attackers

I think this season has proved two things - there is no reason why newly promoted clubs can't stay up if they recruit well; and any team outside of the top 5 or 6 who recruits badly can be in relegation trouble in any season.

We need to have a good summer.

I think if we qualify for Europe which could still happen would impact us as we don’t have the squad depth for it. That to me could be the deciding factor, but there is a caveat in that any incoming signings or some players still here might be swayed with the idea of Europe elsewhere. It’s that part we need to get spot on for next season to be competitive again. Also Xhaka will be a year older so we might need someone in there to cover the games he might not be available for too. So many variables and all before this season has even finished, I’m excited though.

Bournemouth have already appointed their new manager, which is really sensible. Palace probably waiting to see whether they are in Europe. The profile of manager they can appoint will differ depending on that.

Sometimes even a manager with good pedigree for whatever reason just doesnt work out.

Us & Moyes being a prime example

The three who come up won’t/can’t be throwing money around which I personally will be enough for the surviving PL clubs to avoid relegation next season.

But:
Palace will be under a new gaffer.
Bournemouth will be under a new gaffer.
Fulham will probably need a new gaffer.
Forests owner is unpredictable and Eli Wallach nivver lasts very long at any club.
Leeds seem to be built on shifting sands imho.
Brentfords ditto and their good run can’t last forever.
Brightons too, though I think their foundations are solider for some reason.
Spurs are the most likely to make a big move up the table if they survive.
WHUs season won’t be much different to this if they stay up.
Newcastles won’t be either unless they turn pro backstage and can hang on to those who seem to want away. Even if they can’t keep Brunuuur, the winger with the girls haircut, the Italian kid in midfield and Hall there’s no guarantee they’ll be replaced by anyone even half as decent if last summers shoppers have hold of the purse. Plus they’re staring at big losses on all of their forward line the club wants to freshen things upfront errrr up. Fingers crossed eh?

So hoy us in there and that’s yer bottom 3 & 14 sorted (hardly rocket science I know). I think it’ll be even tighter between the relegation and European places with a mind boggling logjam of clubs leapfrogging each other all season. A transfer window as good as last summers and I think there’s no reason we can’t be very near the front of that logjam. One as bad as the mags was and it could be a long long season.
I can’t wait already.

As mad as it seems let’s see what happens at Bournemouth too. Losing their manager and maybe a few more players. You’ve got palace too who will they get in. Then if it’s West Ham that somehow stays up there’s them also. That’s the three coming up those above and probably us Newcastle and one or two others that will be in and around d the bottom half you’d think.
