With all the money about and the best players going to the people who pay most should we adopt the NFL draft system to even things out and stop teams buying the league?

Basically all the star players and managers go in the hat and any team can get them, luck of the draw to what star player you get.

As we don't have the same university based feeder system as the NFL it could only work if we had some kind of centralised premier league academy system.

Would be a decent way of distributing young talent more evenly but why would the clubs, or the league change a winning formula?

Might be canny if it was just football league though, would certainly draw my interest.

Would also fail with international transfers, would run contrary to free movement of workers

I would support a salary cap or a system based on the Olympic style where players get 28k tax free if they do well. If they don't like it and go abroad then fuck them we'll bring our own young players through instead.

Only works when the league is by far the best league in the world for that sport. If Aguero got drafted by us, wouldn't he just go Kaboul and demand to go back to Spain? You'd have to get all the players to sign contracts before the draft saying they'll stay in England.
