Looking at the 22/23 figures and the top five clubs alone owe £3 billion!!!!!!
Obviously these levels are unsustainable and the bubble must be about to burst.
When you think you have to spend in excess of £200m just to survive in the league, no wonder teams going up have little chance of remaining there.
Unless you are an Arabs playtoy it’s looking grim for the future.

Unless you are an Arabs playtoy it’s looking grim for the future.
 
Debt isn't an issue if you can repay the payments. Apple has a debt of $108.04 B...

It's called investment on their stadiums etc.

It won't be a Premier League them that causes the burst, there's always another idiot billionaire willing to waste money on a top club. The issue will be when a club in Europe goes pop and then the ripples will drag down other clubs, I can't see how Barcelona are going to survive after they've sold so much of their commercial rights to keep them at the top unless they get seriously lucky with a constant flow of youngsters they can cash in on and keep fans happy with being title contenders.

Football as a working man's game is gone though.

It’s the massive wage increases every season that should cause the most concern. Average salary 18 mths ago was £67k a week.

So 67k a week average wage for a 25 man squad is £1.7m a week. That’s just over £81m a year for the first team alone!!! That doesn’t include bonus payments……and that was 18mths ago.

Factor in transfer fees, running costs etc, owning a football club is financial suicide. We could never afford promotion.
