Of course I want him to do well. I hope he scores a ton on Saturday when I’m there

I have said that 2 tests isn’t “coming good” and that 4 first class tons at 28 isn’t proven. I’ve also said many times he is a supreme white ball player

I haven’t commented on Livingstone have I? You’ve just made that up
If he scores a ton when you’re not there, does it still count? ;)
He is a supreme one day cricketer, I agree, he is also an excellent Test cricketer IMO and I feel he deserves more respect than you and one or two others show him in that format, it seems others feel the same.
I thought you were comparing his record to Livingstone, I was wrong, you said Pope, apologies.

Of course it counts

I think he could be an excellent test cricketer, he’s got the temperament. And he’s shown some promising signs in the last 12 months. But he has it all to prove.

I tend to divide batsmen into top order and middle order. Good luck to Pope, he's obviously talented but he's middle order and that's a division in this team (and in the Counties) which is over populated. Where England have difficulty is in the top order, which is nos 1-4 in my book, and that's why I'd like to see Burns get given a go.

Is it just me, or is bizarre that we're putting a 20 year old no. 6 in at no.4 for his debut in a Lord's test?

Taking a kid who bats 6 for his county and elevating him to 4 in a test side struggling for runs isn’t a recipie for disaster at all. Is it?

It’s an absolute farce to be honest. Bairstow should be moving up, although I can see the argument for not if he is keeping.

Or Buttler should if he is playing as a batsman only. Although I assume he will at least move up to 6
