Pop Recs - Supporting Local Gigs

I asked them about that, and admittedly I'd had a few beers by then, but think it was as simple as the drummer played a couple weeks back in his new band and loved the place.

And he loved the people as well no doubt!

@Kevsgreat and I had a chat with the drummer when he was up, we reckon that's what pushed him to come back with the band. Well in our heads anyway 🤣

I’m at a party there tonight, haven been since the top flight Time Machine life show a fair few years back, it was virtually derelict then so hope it’s has some work done since then!

That’s the beauty of a gig venue. You don’t need decoration. It’s been built functionally for bands to play gigs, but is all bare brick & a modest bar in the corner. Sound system will be good.

I think this should take you there:

To be fair I signed up for the free one at first and I've just upped it to a fiver a month (well, £6 with VAT). Not loads but it's the cost of a pint and I'll not miss it.
Just done the same. I was drinking their beer for nowt as a bit of an interloper last night so feel I should pay it back.

Just seems an odd place for a lass from shields to have a 40th birthday party!

My friend is good mates with them so I got invited upstairs to have a beer with them. They were lovely with me despite me being a hanger on.
Fair play to them as well. Michael told them that there was a young fan loitering about outside in the hope of getting to meet them so they went down to say hello.
Class that. Fair play to them. And you, sounds like a top night was had.

The bass player did go into town looking for somewhere to drink.
Fair play to him if he found anywhere like 😂, not a lot going on round that way late on a Thursday. It was good to see the Bridge Hotel Vaults busy before the gig but I felt for the barman, put a canny shift in on his todd.

It is like! Is she having a band?

It’s a great venue for gigs or club nights. For a 40th, you’d have thought there’d be a few older people there & they’d want some seating. Think all they’ve got a school bench type things.

Even odder she’s coming from Shields. I love the place, but a family party isn’t ideal unless she’s booked a band to play. I love the bar, but there’s not a load of choice & it tends to be based around craft beer. Uncle Gary who drinks Worthies in the club on a Sunday might be disappointed 😂

Irked play Pop Recs on 9th June. They have their album out today which is very good. Should be a lively night.

Cheers mate, thank you.

He did really well. Actually came over and asked my mate if his Black Wave was OK, I had a sip and it wasn't, he replaced it.

Disappointed with the guest beers in there mind, wonder if they struggle to sell non Vaux stuff. Elephant Rock has a better selection when I've been in.

For the first time in there on Thursday I just went straight for the Wise Men Say and didn't even look at the real ales. I'm always just a little bit disappointed with the Vaux real ales. Nothing wrong with them but I wouldn't choose them in a line up.

No pies with your pints?

I felt like I was the oldest person in here tonight. Really enjoyed the Artic Monkeys tribute.

Lots of young un’s who were no bother in the gig but absolutely out of it.

Lent a few young un’s outside my phone as they had ran out of batteries and needed lifts home.

Be some canny hangovers in the morning.

Cracking gig I enjoyed both bands.
A load of young people there from South Shields possibly because the lead singer of Fountains CD was from South Shields.

I think I was probably the oldest there

😁
