Pop Recs - Supporting Local Gigs

Once people start posting gigs, it’ll be yesterday internet fish & chips wrappings.

Just need Pop Recs to hoy loads of good gigs on now.

Whilst we’ve got their attention, Young Rebel Set are playing gigs again, Brògeal, Ian Prowse, Rifles, Michael Head, Samantics, Dream Machine, Pastel, Marseille & Oasis would be be good bookings.
They should try and get Frankie Stubbs on, he occasionally does some gigs

This might help you make up your mind.

Liking this from me phone. Need to have a proper listen tomorrow. Some amazing names popping up in their credits - Evan Parker and Julie Tippetts/Driscoll!

Wouldn't mind some chairs in for that one, mind, or preferably cushions!

The follow up album No Fixed Point In Space was really good too. This song is off the new album due out back end of August.

Sound good, I'm on holiday !
Fantastic venue -went to a “ gig “ for a significant birthday there -tremendous
The lad in charge ( big fella with a beard couldn’t have been more pleasant )
My only gripe when people put who is on ( in my 60s) I’ve never heard of any such f them -and the saying “ play me something I kna would be apt “
Great venue though -and I sometimes go to cafe part before the match and have to say the food is delicious ( the bread they cook in house on a weekend is amazing )
i will try and support whenever I can we are so lucky to have venues like this
I'm early 60s and all I'd say is , this is where it's at ,all the stuff you like you didn't know once . Mega priced gigs etc ..nah .
Look for new stuff and get down to see them local . Music needs audiences

What's it going to be?
Post 26 I think he’s referring to

Pop is essentially run by myself and Micheal from The Heartstrings and we employ 6 people in on a full time basis. I'm also involved with the Bridge Hotel Vaults and the upcoming food offer in the adjacent unit on Sunderland St. Between Pop Recs and The Bridge we're working hard, with the Likes of Sunshine Co-op, to establish something cool down on our end of High St West.

Cheers for this lads n lasses. To give you a brief run down if you're not in the know;

"Pop Recs is a Community Interest Company based in the heart of Sunderland, this basically means we're not for profit and exist to enrich cultural and artistic activities in the City.

Founded in 2013, as a 'pop up shop' it quickly became an arts/cultural and social space. We occupied various locations across the city before moving to our current home at High Street West, Sunniside in November 2021. Pop Recs is driven by community values with an overarching principle to culturally enrich the lives of the people living in its community by providing activities for the community. These include local employment and volunteering opportunities in line with our core activities; Café, 220 capacity music venue and community space.

Our café has gained a reputation in the city and region for the quality food and beverage offer homemade brunch style dishes, house made bread and specialty coffee served 6 days a week. These commercial activities help sustain Pop Recs and subsidise the wider community offer."

I'll keep dropping in here and will put up a bit of a listings post tonight or tomorrow.

Cheers for the support!

Enjoyed the craic yesterday in Sonny's its great to see all the cracking developments in the East End.

any small independent cafe/pub/music venue hopefully will always do well , but they cant just expect people to turn up (bit like the marketing side of SAFC prior to TIL THE END campaign)

anyone whose not been in the cafe.. its toppa, give it a go , sure they also run the cafe next to The Bunker

They do. Otto. I like it in there too.

Hopefully with the bigger residential footprint coming to Sunderland venues like these will be used more.
