Pop Recs - Supporting Local Gigs

I've chatted at some length with both her and Chris and, although she has apologised to him and he now seems fine with things, I don't know why she doesn't think it warrants a public apology, having humiliated him publicly, and maybe a statement explaining some background. Those who know Chris will have known better, but there were women and quite a few kids there who may see him at the next gig and think 'There's that old perve again'.

Sorry, we should try and keep this thread about Pop Recs. Maybe the artists need to agree beforehand to Chris, or whoever, filming. I'm a bit surprised they aren't asked already. I'm sure they would be at the many gigs he has promoted himself.

It would be a shame if he feels he has to stop posting videos to his YouTube channel - highly recommended, lots of Pop Recs stuff in there.

This article is actually well worth a read:

The Eggs post gig Sunderland content was failry brief for obvious reasons . Most of the crowd wouldn't know she apologised to him direct so it's neither here nor there to most of us . We all cringed while she went off on one and I've no problem with someone's comment on here in the line " she's nowt to look at " .She threw the insults first based on very little . Glass houses and all that . The situation could have turned quite nasty .

The loads of space down the front thing is a bit weird
You walk in and it's busy around that area and find a spot then you decide to move between people, getting the don't stand there look from small people to find loads of space down the front .

That's when gigs aren't well selling, almost as if because there's a bit room people don't want to be on top of the artist when behind them is plenty of space, but still close with a good view. It's not exclusive to this venue, find it loads at gigs where it's small and only half full.

I think it's irrelevant and diminishes any other, more rational, points being made.

Do you really think only 'beautiful' (eye of the beholder, and all that) women get harassed and abused?

As I say I'd say she brought the sexual angle in
Like a man can't watch a female on stage without being a perv .
I didn't read his comment the way you have
No one got harassed or abused ,that's just the point .

The Yummy Fur / Milky Wimpshake / Roxy Girls at Pop Recs Saturday 9th August. £13.50 Sounds like great value.
Modern Nature ar Pop Recs Wedmesday 1st October £15. Never seen these live, but I've bought their music. They share some common ground with Talk Talk.

There might be an argument that if a woman feels she is being harassed, then she is being harassed, whether there is any intent or not.

You've played in bands for quite a while, I think? If somebody wanted to video you, do you think you should be asked for consent, so you can be ready to throw some mean and moody shapes?

First part . If a woman pointed you out and said she felt something was happening and its you doing it . ( with little in the way of reason ) What would you think ? . I'd be confused and then probably a little angry for anyone even thinking that .
Regards people videoing me ,fill your boots
She would not have said that if it was an older woman ,younger man or hipster George Clooney older man .
Like the poster who you picked up on said she had something going on her head based on some kind of physical attraction and she was way off .
Let's park this and let the thread do its bit

As has been suggested in another thread, let’s have a thread where we can tell each other specifically about events & gigs Pop Recs are putting on.

For those of you that don’t know, it’s a cracking little venue on High Street West, just on the edge of the town. I’ve been to a couple of gigs, Michael Head & Steve Mason where they’ve stopped mid gig & commented on what a fantastic venue it is.

There’s been a little bit of concern that certain events dint get the right exposure, between us we can let each other know, in a similar way the Fire Station thread works.

Anyhow, the two coming up I’m aware of is the Chameleons on 24th July & Fire Doors on 13th December.

Despite all the best intentions in the world, it seems like this is just awful timing to start this thread

Once people start posting gigs, it’ll be yesterday internet fish & chips wrappings.

Just need Pop Recs to hoy loads of good gigs on now.

Whilst we’ve got their attention, Young Rebel Set are playing gigs again, Brògeal, Ian Prowse, Rifles, Michael Head, Samantics, Dream Machine, Pastel, Marseille & Oasis would be be good bookings.

Redd Kross at Pop Recs Wednesday 20th August. I have a split single they released with Sonic Youth in 1994. Both bands covered a Carpenters song.
Senser at Pop Recs Saturday 20th September.

Fantastic venue -went to a “ gig “ for a significant birthday there -tremendous
The lad in charge ( big fella with a beard couldn’t have been more pleasant )
My only gripe when people put who is on ( in my 60s) I’ve never heard of any such f them -and the saying “ play me something I kna would be apt “
Great venue though -and I sometimes go to cafe part before the match and have to say the food is delicious ( the bread they cook in house on a weekend is amazing )
i will try and support whenever I can we are so lucky to have venues like this

It's an argument I would disagree with. Context is very important. I know where you are coming from though.

Interesting. I'm a big fan of TT. I'm wondering whether to go an see them without buying music beforehand. Thoughts?
