Pop Recs - Supporting Local Gigs

Went to the Baz Warne Sunday day session and really enjoyed a gig on a Sunday afternoon so a shame. Just a good time for it, have your dinner, watch a gig, do t stay out late so your right for work.
I had a chat with a mate of a mate pre-covid about this. He was a part-time promoter some years ago.

I said that I wondered whether Sunday afternnon gigs would be better attended than say Mon/Tues night gigs, particularly in winter. He said that promoters weren't adverse to this but the venues were as they though they'd sell less drink. The young 'uns are almost always going to want a night out, but the more mature gig goer is maybe less bothered about having a skinful and would be more likely to fancy an afternoon show.

Prob not but I'd imagine a few would have a slurp on a Sunday afternoon as well. Prob wouldn't do as well as a night gig for drinking but pick you bands that don't have a big coat and could get a regular crowd out of it.

Funnily enough, looked the Nightengakes gig up after I heard them on 6music & they ran through the tour dates after the song.

Unfortunately I’ll be landing back in Newcastle as the gig starts.

Heard enough to listen to them more like

Plenty of old arseholes in there tonight aff their tits, don’t think I’ve been barged stood on or shoved so much since Woltemade heided one in at the Sol.

I'd been after a couple of tickets for Utah Saints, signed up for Twickets alerts as a last resort. A couple did come up but it was too late as I'd already committed to doing something else.

Shame like, doubt I'll get a chance to see them round here again.

The sound in there is class proper heavy walls for bass to bounce off it was mint. Agree with the old pissed up arseholes barging all ower comment mind but enjoyed it regardless and the venue is topper. Only seen Echobelly in there on a Sunday afternoon so different crowd but it's a class place and great to see Sunniside busy. Diegos is one of the best places in the town.

Steve Mason & Michael Head have both said mid gig what a great venue it is. In an unprompted way. They’ve played a few venues between them.

Mates just told me he’s bought us tickets for space in November while he was pissed other night , forgot all about it till he seen the transaction on his bank 😂

Possibly know about 5 songs max

Tin Planet is a very good album. Outside that, The Ballad of Tom Jones is an excellent song.
They have a new album due out before the tour which they will no doubt be featuring in the setlist.
