That's pretty spurious reasoning. Teflon when stable is safe, when you start heating it above certain temperatures it degrades and the fumes are toxic.

Should we also not take paracetamol because it's poisonous if ingested by cats?

If you start going above around 300 degrees Celsius then yes it's possible.

As an example, if you did get your pan that hot you'd be over the smoke point of every cooking oil, considerably so in many cases.

I use 10w-40, fully synthetic for my frying needs.
