Points needed to stay up

We’re not going down this thread surely isn’t about us it’s about what the points tally will be for teams below us to stay up?!

West Ham must have been a bit crushed seeing Forest’s result on Sunday, they didn’t make any ground from beating us. 5 points is a large gap and Forest are in good form with a great manager for tough situations. Leeds are in decent form. The likes of Palace and Spurs are more points ahead still.

You do realise that freak run of 6 wins were all against the other teams in the bottom 7? West Ham’s next 3 fixtures include 2 of the top 5. The last time West Ham won 2 on the bounce, they didn’t win again for 10 games.

And again, this “strength in depth” you talk of….. Well, the current bottom 7 teams have won 8 of their last 70 games between them, since early December. 5 of those were in games where 2 of them were playing each other. To put that into context, we have won 8 of our last 23.

West Ham may stay up. But at this stage, it’s unlikely, and it’s very unlikely they get 40 points.

West Ham still have to play Burnley a, Bournemouth h, Fulham a, Wolves h, Palace a, Everton h, Brentford a and Leeds h as very winnable games.

I think the "strength in depth" doesnt apply to Burnley and Wolves. Its the reality that Leeds are on course for 44 on ppg basis, Forest more like 41 - but they've improved, beyond that we're down to a bottom three. If West Ham randomly win loads of games and hit a winning formula then theres nobody obvious to take their place in the bottom 3.

Its all moot anyway - I'm sure Sunderland will be continuing to play and try and compete for every point regardless.

It’s not about us.

Nevertheless interested in thoughts about points total to stay up for the teams in the relegation battle.

Same applies to points for Europe even if we don’t end up going to Europe.

Think mid 30s. The way we've seen teams go in and out of form this season still makes it a tough ask for West Ham. They've got a tough run of fixtures coming up which may well decide it in another 6 games or so. Relies on them sustaining that form and teams around them dropping the necessary points (less likely given the unpredictability of the league). Plus their goal difference is as good as being another point worse off. Think it's between them and Forest for 3rd bottom, don't see Burnley getting out now

15 matches left the bottom 3 have a lot of work to do…Burnley & Wolves finished

As long as we keep getting points from teams around us.That's the aim.Let them fight it out among themselves but remember the 4uk ups we seem to do ! Saturday at West Ham prime example FFs. Burnley do have terrible fixture list, have to beat all the bottom teams around them to stop up.🤞

Looks like we need to play well in five or six more matches to be ok. Would have thought that would be a minimum for us motivation wise

West Ham need 5 wins to overtake us and that’s without us picking up another point ,their is also some traffic between us in the likes of Leeds, palace etc
Unlikely we will go down tbh, also if our fans are worried so should the mag fans ,they are on the same points as us but with tougher fixtures
