*~*~* Plymouth v Sunderland match thread *~*~*

Everything I was listening to on the radio just sent me back 12 months to the days of Michael Beale. It's as if I was listening in October 2023 not September 2024. It's like the last few weeks never happened and I am gravely worried about the rest of the season if we continue to play like that. We were diabolical. No fight. Got put under pressure so easily. Shots were poor. They ran rings around us. And this against a manager who we all thought would have Pl***uth Ar**le relegated by November. Indeed this team will spend most of it where they are in the country. Right at the bottom. I was so excited once the season started. Four wins on the trot. I cannot even think back to when we last won 3 in a row let alone 4. I thought we were world beaters, King of the Ring, and I was loving it. But the season has lot's is sparkle for me.
Bit much that mate, saying the season has lost its sparkle because of 1 bad display. Get yourself back up for the Boro game lad.

12 points from 5 games is good stuff, but you precisely identified the problem and were a young and somewhat brittle side and got mid table look already about us and thats despite our great start, which so animated the happy clappers.... I really wish we were the real deal and could challenge for a top 2 spot, but the management and there clap happy followers have made it very hard to even finish in the playoffs and were back to praying for injuries free and a bit of luck.

Didn't see the game but have just watched the highlights. Thought all 3 of their goals had a touch of good fortune about them. The 1st O'Nien put in a good block but the ball ricochet to their player then Paterson made a great save only for it to hit Ballard. The 2nd 9 times out of 10 Ballard clears the 1st ball so then doesn't end up giving away a penalty. The 3rd was just poor keeping. If you can't hold the shot you need to make sure you don't palm it back into the danger area.
There's an element of Plymouth making their own luck. They had us pinned in our own half so we are more likely to make mistakes in dangerous areas.

Even then I expected better, especially from Ballard.

Episode 2 now out.

Was joined by Anth Stephenson from SAFC NASA and Danny Dimitrov from Bulgarian Sunderland Supporters Branch to discuss yesterday's defeat to Plymouth and also to hear about Anth's Sunderland story.

Cant say we are much stronger when we’ve not seen them kick a ball yet?

You are right about hopefully they are… bit early to tell either way yet.

Mepham plenty experience, Samed a natural cdm, Alexic comes with a great reputation, Browne been consistent in this leaguers Poveda keeping Roberts on his toes, Wilson looked good Saturday.

Aware they all need to bed in and some not even fit to play at the min, just think we are better equipped this season, as you say time will tell.
