Plunkett is a plonker

He'll pass through it on his way to Middlesex.
This is where I'd go if I were him ie:

as far away from the NE as possible
a place where they have an excellent transport infrastructure
a London club where he will have a better opportunity to resurrect his career and be noticed if he does well

Liam is a canny lad and I wish him the best of luck. No excuses for what has happened in his private life but I doubt he needs a lecture on it.

It's years since he was good enough to play for England, his bowling has been shocking for the last 2 years and his batting has gone right down the pan too. Add to that he's a complete pisshead.

If Plunkett can sort himself out then Yorkshire could have a more than decent bowling attack next year. They have signed Jack Brooks from Northants who was one of the best seamers in Division 2 and they already have Sidebottom, Ashraf, Patterson, Hannon-Dalby and spin options in Rafiq and Rashid.

I didn't realise that Brooks was in his late 20's. Assumed he was around the age of Finn and Meaker.

I'm beginning to think there's a good chance that both Plunkett and Blackwell could still be at Durham next year. Both are on big wages and no one seems to be willing to match their current salary's.

I can't imagine the hierarchy at Durham will want to be paying their 1st division rivals a big percentage of someones wages who is playing against Durham. Durham were paying more of Mark Davies wages then Kent were last season but he wasn't playing for Durhams rivals in the 1st division.

Yorkshire have signed Brooks and Middlesex have signed Harris, so there's no need for them to push the boat out wages wise now on someone who may or may not get it right.

Blackwell is having a shoulder op and there's no guarantee he'll be as effective as he once was given his age and this latest op.

There's still plenty of time left till the start of next season but I somehow get the impression that comings and goings are not going as well as Durham would have liked, especially with the hoped for signing of an oversea batsman.

I'm glad he's got sorted, hopefully he can concentrate on his cricket now and get some form back, but not against Durham.

I don't mind being wrong when its good news for Durham, I hope I'm wrong about Blackie as well.

Best of luck to him. Thoroughly decent lad. Shame he's gone off the rails a bit recently.

A move will do him good as his bowling was shot to pieces at Durham; and TBH there are 1 or 2 more who could do with a change of scenery.

I'm told that Blackwell was offered to Warwickshire but that there was no way they would bite at £120k per season. However Collingwood doesnt want him at Durham so i reckon a deal will be done.

Harmison will be gone this time next year as well, so thats a fair few high wage earners who will be off the payroll in the coming months.

Amazing.......

Well Pudsey's gone

"In signing me and Jack Brooks I think Yorkshire will have the best seam bowling attack in the country...."

Just wow, has a high opinion of himself considering in the last 2 years he has barely been able to land the ball on the track or score more than double figures [and has been caught drinking driving, twice]

I can't get my head around people referring to him as a decent lad. Every time I see him he has the "strut" on, and at times I would say he has even gone on like a complete bell end.

Good riddance I say.

Lost any of the tiny amount of respect I may have had for him when he got done for drink driving AGAIN!!

He's an idiot for his drinking driving, can't ever say otherwise.

1 thing I will say is that a couple of seasons ago he was very kind with my partner who is registered with a disability so her mobility isn't great. She asked him for his top on the day of the last day of the season and true to his word he walked down after the game and handed over the jumper despite loads of other people trying to get the jumper off him.

The time was right for him to leave as he's been a very silly lad and I hope he learns from his mistakes. His form in the last 2 year has been poor.
