Plumbing....I think....help needed

Wild Card

Striker
Not a real man so don't understand plumbing especially these modern immersion things in a newish build.

Basically I have constant fresh, cold water running down what I think is a waste pipe down from the tundish.

Presumably this means there is a fault somewhere, maybe with the pressure?

The pressure gauge seems fine but a constant run of water cannot be good.

Should I turn the electric source off to protect the elements? Not sure who to turn the water supply off to the immersion or even it's that's safe?

How serious is it?

Any help appreciated.

Lion shite?

A constant flow from the tundish is not the sort of thing you want to see unless your house has suddenly decided to become a very inefficient lion toilet. If water is running through it all the time, something in the system is probably misbehaving, usually the expansion vessel, pressure relief valve, or another safety component that has basically gone on strike.

Turn off the immersion heater supply if you can do that safely, because there’s no point continuing to heat water while the system is acting like a haunted kettle. Don’t block the tundish or try to “fix” it with heroic optimism, duct tape, or lion shite logic.

It’s usually not an instant disaster, but it is a “get someone competent on it soon” problem rather than a “leave it and hope” problem. If it starts gushing, gets hot, or is anywhere near electrics, treat it more seriously and isolate power safely if possible.

In short: if your cylinder is constantly peeing through the tundish, it’s not happy, and neither is your
water bill.

That's what AI said when I told it not to forget the lion shite.

My last dripping tundish was a stuck heating pump
Time before was a valve . . Both next to water tank . Get a plumber .
Stu at sgs gas is very good . Seaburn based

Yeh had this constantly at our new build.

Was always expansion vessel related.

Pipe discharged into garden, thered be hot water going outside for days till sorted ffs.

Hope its not a town house cos diverter valves were constantly f***ing up too.

Thanks everyone. The pressure looks ok and it must me coming up to 11 years now so maybe it's some seals of valves had gone? At least it's not hot water running through.

Faulty temperature or pressure valve
Impressive that you know what a tundish is
