Luke is no longer a utility player he’s a centre half he’s barely played anywhere else played fullback once for a few minutes and for sent off Guitruida should be first choice right back
Glad we held onto Luke
He will get a lot of football next season

As would Geertruida

I’d bet RLB has him 3rd choice after Nordi and Hume, depending on who we are playing/game plan
If when Ballard returns he will at best be 2nd choice. I hope I’m very wrong.
At Everton they have a CB playing at RB so chances are he’d be first choice and no doubt Everton will offer at least same wages. It would be a no brainervfor him if rumours are to be believed
Idk, I think RLB should see him as a better RB than Hume after the last few games, while he could tryHume more in midfield.

I see Gertrude’s in the same way as I do Isidore in that both are quality players who are back up to better players in my humble opinion. Both are premier league level as has been proven, but both I would imagine don’t want or like the role they have in the squad and want more minutes.

I’m sure we’re negotiating. His contract will presumably end on 30th June so he hasn’t officially left yet meaning I wouldn’t necessarily expect an announcement either way until then.

Not sure they would get guaranteed roles they prefer at other prem teams.

He’s proven his quality this season.

However if you have mukiele Ballard and alderete fit, you could argue he wouldn’t start.

Would I like him to stay, absolutely, does he want to sit around and wait for chances…probably not.

Hope I’m wrong.

Hope he has a massive WC.

Brobbey keep in his ear though

Gertrude? Isidore?

What about Le Feyee and Xhakaa?

Similar to Clarkey, went back to spurs after the season ended then bought him permanently on the 9th July

You hope Europe changes all that as it’s what you have to have in Europe … we need another 6 Isidor and Gertruddas

I think it's a tough one regarding our best XI with quite a few players staking genuine claims and competing for similar positions.

Gertruida has shown that he's more than capable...he had 3 brilliant games from memory - Mags (a) , Man Utd (h) & Chelsea (h).

Would love to think that we have some room in the finances to keep most of this squad together and add a few more over the summer.

I think even just the benefit of more time together as a squad could see us kick on again next season...

A lot of young players and a newly assembeld squad did brilliantly last season.

First choice RB imo. I prefer Mukiele in CB to RB.

One of Ballard or Alderete goes on the bench.

Yes, potentially this. I've been surprised at how Ballard was able to stay fit and play so many games until the end of the season.

I think maybe he could end up being the one to drop out due to his fitness issues.

This is despite some of the performances he has put in last season.

Yeah, I’d say Ballard is the more likely to be the benched one.

Saying that, there were times Alderete’s form massively dropped and had some odd moments. Trying to start a fight with the West Ham player whilst they hit the bar comes to mind.

It’ll be a long season and rotation will become even more necessary than it was this season, so all need to play a part.

As much as I want us to sign Gerty I would understand if the club thought the money could be better utilized elsewhere. We already have Mukiele and Hume and I suspect they may want to look for another loan to fill the void and put the money towards another genuine player who is pretty much a guaranteed starter when fit.
I suspect Gery would want assurances that he will be a starter that I don’t think the manager would be able to give him, he’s clearly fancied Mukiele and Hume over him for most of the season.

To counter that though, he’s been our starting RB in the last 3 games of the season where we were comfortably the better side in all 3, and should have took 9 points instead of the 7.

Gerty must have had a nod from someone that he was wanted elsewhere. Now that Slot's been peddled are there other routes out of Sunderland for him ?
