Mukiele is our best right sided centre back, Gerty is the best right back in the entire universe. Mukiele is 2nd best right back. Ballards excellent season muddied the waters I think

This is what I think also. For me our best defence has always been Geertruida, Mukiele, Alderete, Reinildo. Hume & Ballard are exceptionally good players for backup and will play more game than they don’t due to injuries and suspensions next season, even if Geertruida stays and we sign a LB and LCB. And then of course there is Luke to add in.

England are planning on playing Scott for a bit I think. It’s a long tournament so they’re making sure to rest Rice first

I think Timber was a doubt going into the squads, so they’re presumably protecting him by playing Geertruida

Makes sense to me. If you’re resting Rice for a bit (fair) and want to give max, say, 45 mins to other players (fair) you also then need somebody to cover the gap

Timber had missed better part of 3 months with a groin issue before returning for the Final... Geerty might be closer to it than we know.

Given they have Dumfries as well, I would imagine if there are doubts about Timber they’re best off dropping him and having Geertruida as back up.

While he’s class, it’s not like Timber is their talisman and only RB option and worth pursuing if he’s injured

If there's an injury before the tournament starts Scott would be the one to go. I think he's the only player who's out there (alongside Jason Steele) who were named in the original 55 man list.

Scotland lost Billy Gilmour the other day injury so it's not impossible. Personally i'd prefer the minutes went to someone in the squad, but i understand the logic in Scott getting a game
