Xhaka’s parents are ethnic Albanians from Kosovo.

His father, Ragip Xhaka, was a political prisoner in the former Yugoslavia before the family emigrated from Kosovo to Basel, Switzerland, in 1990.

Although born in Switzerland and a Swiss international, Granit holds strong ties to his Albanian heritage.

However I concede that my source was a Google search.

Yes but I’m saying I wouldn’t say his family are Albanian. They might say they’re kosovan, or Albanian or Swiss or all of them. Probably not yugoslav
