PIF & Durham 100 Franchise

I remember about 6 months ago when there was a story saying that they bought up Newcastle Falcons.

Let’s just say i’m not holding my breath.

They're talking as if this is a done deal.

Personally I think interest is waning regarding private investment generally.

I'm confident this dead duck of a tournament won't go beyond the end of next season.

To all the people crying about being ‘done with Durham’:

It’s a ‘Durham based franchise’. No different therefore to the Trent Bridge based franchise who aren’t Nottinghamshire and/or the Headingley based franchise that aren’t Yorkshire.

Mind you would hope someone would do their due diligence and realise the animosity it would cause and the lack of support it would bring.

Issue with private equity in these franchises is a way to provide investment into the associated County clubs and wider game. Any of these sorts buying into any component of pur system is bad news for cricket in England. The 100 imo if allowed private ownership etc will erode traditional cricket in the country even further than it already has

I totally agree and have been saying that for months, but I’m trying not to get upset over things that haven’t happened and may never happen.
