Yes for sure. Kind of what I think. There are so many variables that it is partly what I would call “luck” to a degree. As you say, Diakite might have been a star with us. Petrovic too, who knows

I’d love be able to see the outcome sliding doors style. Bulka is a good keeper and may have avoided injury if we signed him. Petrovic looked the most “ guaranteed” to do well and I wonder if he would have looked better here behind an aerially strong defence with good coaching but there’s no doubt we’ve got by far the best option in Roefs.
Maybe doesn't apply so much to keepers but after a few years it is likely to get harder to unearth the bargains. For one thing, your hands are likely to be increasingly tied due to financial regulations, and it becomes harder to shape a team exactly the way you want it, like we were able to (or those other teams when they came up). If you have players who aren't quite what you want or lose a bit of form, you can't just get rid of them and start again.
