You can’t be sentimental in football. He did really well in the final but across the season showed he’s not at the level we need
I'd rather take a bit of a punt on someone like Sam Tickle than sign Ramsdale or Johnstone, and just have him compete with Patto.

People are overestimating Patterson IMO, Goalkeepers are absolutely vital especially in the Prem.
Patto had a good play offs but he makes quite a few mistakes, his kicking / distribution is woeful and we will need that on counter attacks. His handling from corners is cack too.
We desperatley need a new number one.

Yep, consistently underperforms relative to xG on target numbers that he faces.
-5.91 goals prevented in 2023/2024 and -3 goals prevented in 2024/2025.
May as well just persist with Patterson if Johnstone is the alternative as the end result will be the same

Or they think they're an improvement on Patto. That's doesn't mean Patto is shit. I've got absolutely no problem with Patto starting as our 1st choice keeper. If we can get better then great.

He’s not shit at everything, that’s not what I said. He is however worse than the other top end Goalkeepers that played in the Championship last season. (Trafford, Cooper, Johanssen) based on statistical data. Data isnt everything of course, but I’ve seen Pattersons weaknesses with my own eyes. Great shot stopper & did seem to improve
slightly on crosses in the PO but in general not particulaly convincing, nevermind for the level above.

I think people go way over the top with how they judge some players. Imo Patto is in that category, last season for example he had a poor month where he was making mistakes , other than that he was pretty solid. You read on here and it's like he was terrible all season and that wasn't the case
