Petrovic

I was talking to a coach at a PL academy recently and he had an interesting take on the Watson goal.

Although he agrees it was a perfectly placed shot. He reckoned that Tommys poor second touch basically made the goal as (i) the defenders were knackered and just couldn’t react in time (ii) it allowed him to hide the shot, so the goalie couldn’t see it.
That touch got it out of his feet, and because he was stretching slightly the ball was in the perfect position to get that amount of curl on it.

Got a step in before the dive? Hyper critical maybe, and cracking finish, but a top drawer keeper does better.
No-one, not Yashin, Banks, Monty, Buffon, not one of them saves it.
It is already an iconic goal talked about by non-partisan commentators as a perfect strike.
One of the most beautiful things I have ever seen on a football pitch.

Sheff Utd were knackered at the end of the first half from watching them.. They tried to keep it tight but we moved them all over the place. They were from 60minutes in relying on breakaways thankfully none came off save for Patto. By the time Mayenda scored they were all over the place. Robinson was struggling like hell and then O'Hare's ball out to was hit and hope. Fortunately Moore got in the way with his poor first touch.
I think Moore got too much stick for Watson’s goal.

He tried to layoff it off with a first time pass but his teammate was running and it went slightly behind him. No big deal as Watson had the entire Sheff Utd defence between him and their goal.

They just chose to stand off him.

Lad i know on Instagram is a Chelsea fan, just asked him about this lad and he reckons he's better than their current 1 and 2, and in his words the club have "dropped a bollock" letting him go.
Chelsea supporter in the office next to ours said the same thing to me last week, no idea why they're letting this lad go.

Many Chelsea fans saying he should be their first choice, but Maresca doesn't rate him.

Am I disagreeing?😊
I’d like to think not, but never know on this place 😂

Think he (Petrovic) demanded to be number 1 at CWC if he returned from loan and went with the squad. Maresca has publicly said Sanchez is his no.1 and Filip Jorgensen his number 2 so Petrovic didn’t bother going.

As I said I gave not taken particular notice of him accept the final so bow to your greater knowledge.
He did little of note and his distribution was no better nor worse than Patterson . Patterson was rightly deemed MOM , Cooper was not .
My main concern is why spend 10 -15M on him as a replacement for Patterson when the advantage gained is so small.
If we are spending good money on a goalkeeper you want to see a noticeable difference in quality. I get where you are coming from. I feel a bit meh about the Johnstone links.
