It not perfect but just going to have to accept it from time to time at the moment. First one went to Saudi for 10m a year tax free. We would have to offer 400k a week to match that and as crap as it sounds Bournemouth are ahead of us at the moment. A really established premier league club who will be hoping to push for Europe this season

This is the position our backroom recruitment team really have to earn there corn for this season imho.you need two competent keepers in the PL pushing each other.

This is one of the reasons we need to keep doing business on the quiet. If more established teams see us after a good target they’ll move in

Can’t blame players for wanting more security over an ambitious project

I reckon every single PL club will be aware of the players available. Agents, managers, heads of football. They'll be waiting to see who shows their hand first. Ultimately an in-demand player will go to the club who matches his ambitions, location etc. Not the first club to make an offer 'on the quiet'.
 
I hope Bournemouth get him, not based on stats or owt ... just a feeling in my water that he's not that good, or not as good as he needs to be at £20m+. No I can't back it up, yes I might be wrong, but you've got to trust your instincts

tho k Patto is a reasonable good keeper, is young and can get better. I’d like to see a young keeper with potential but a bit of experience cone in to push him but I’d rather us break the bank for Mikautadze and at least one top centre back too. So spending 20m plus on a keeper at this juncture I think may be a bit daft.

I tend to agree ... of course I've no idea what the money pot holds, everything we want might be attainable. Patto isn't a pudding and although the daft slagging of him being too fat etc. is silly, I do thing he was carrying a little excess tummy timber ... he needs to get ripped and speed up a little - I think it's up to him whether or not he makes it in the Premier League, he's got the abilities and just needs the drive, ambition and application.

Again, I might be talking cac, the club know him, I don't.

Good post mate. He defo put on some timber through last season and if he shreds that he will be more agile.

Obviously clubs will know who’s available but they might not be top of their priorities and think they’ve got time. They hear we’re talking to them and then they have to move on them so they don’t miss out

But if we can get in there and convince them we’re the right move for them before others turn their heads
