Good to see a business that more or less started in a small premise above Houghton Cut reach these levels. Surprised they are a 'Scottish' business
albeit I am not close enough to how they HQ now. And a good time to be backing Scotland Rugby. Nice to see the red and white tie and NE accent in the interview!

Wife is Scottish. When Reg Vardy was took over by Pendragon young Peter started up in Scotland. The HQ is in Glasgow. Started off small with BMW in Edinburgh now has Porsche, JLR, BMW and numerous used car superstores plus various other associated motor trade businesses such as Silver Bullet which is a motor industry marketing platform. A lot of ex Reg Vardy people from the NE in senior positions as well.

Thanks. Good to hear.I guess some of the sites are at Braehead. My wife is from Glasgow centre so I know the area well. Bought a car there at the Audi garage 18 months ago. So they have clearly succeeded twice. Great story.

I understand that when he cut loose on his own, he actively decided not to start up in the NE because of his grandfather's and father's legacy but wanted a fresh 'name' in a new region thinking it would be better for business and not just what would be viewed by some as a relaunch.
He was also educated at Loretto boarding school near Edinburgh and a graduate of Strathclyde University.
His father Sir Peter of course is still involved in our Foundation of Light being on the board of trustees.
Be good to see the Vardy name back on our shirts one day soon as the journey back to the top flight gathers pace.

Is it my memory being daft again, I thought Reg Vardys kids were killed in a house fire whilst him and his wife were out?
Obviously years ago now but I was sure that was the case. He used to live in the house behind his garage?

Sir Peter and one of his sisters are definitely still alive. His sister and his wife oversaw the catering at my Dad's funeral.

Scotland because after the hostile take over there were complications using the Reg Vardy name. Young Peter however was allowed to trade in a company under his own name and Scottish law helped him set up Peter Vardy as a brand and trading style. Nice lad

That's interesting. They were taken over by Pendragon I believe. Hadn't realised it was hostile so to speak. Makes sense to look for another patch since Pendragon is country wide.

this. Part of the takeover meant the ‘Vardy’ name couldn’t be used in England however in Scotland he could set up using his own name as a name for his business.
