Penalty on Brobbey


The lad isnt looking at the ball at all - all he's doing is stopping Brobbey by whatever means, Brobbey may be holding too but at least he's trying to get the ball
 
The one from Martinez is mental how that's not been giving. Full on punched him in the face in the box, and if he had dreads too he'd have been off for whatever the fuck he was grabbing the second before too

This sort of decision is exactly why we get the sort of diving nonsense all the time now as it is easier to get a decision that way than playing on and get the better of an opponent that way.

Shaw starts the grapple as he realises he has lost his man. Brobbey is then punished for actually winning the physical contest (despite Shaw starting the foul play and not concerning himself with the ball at all). IMO you have every right to be put on the floor if you have started trying to foul a player like that.

We've basically said to Brobbey he should have gone to ground like a wimp the second Shaw puts hands on him. Does anyone want to see football played like that?

Atwell should be refereeing Sunday league games, he's the most inept referee I've seen in my lifetime, how the fuck he gave this as a free kick against Brobbey is astonishing.

I think Brobbey needs to be coached regarding getting through players by not holding his defender let them hold you and more penalties will be awarded

Yes it’s annoying. Refs ( and VAR refs) will get things wrong, badly wrong and this has been happening in football for decades. It’s part of the game
Even if they got things 100% right your sort would still find something to whinge about

Because he didnt drop.

Sad reflection on the game that a player who actually stays on his feet can be legitimately fouled, yet one who goes down can get a free kick for the softest of things.

I like Brobbey, and his ability to stay on hia feet is an asset. But I think if he goes down, VAR gives that

The PL has completely lost its way regarding what constitutes a foul in the box. They've become increasingly confused. Not to mention this whole thing of being allowed to foul someone before a corner is taken and it not being given as a penalty, but once the corner is kicked the same offence would be.
