Pearson

be too expensive for us
Maybe but we'll have no compo to pay which looks like we're willing to pay to other clubs if we've approached 5 people already in jobs. Plus Pearson will know this is his last chance of a big club, his record is tainted a bit at the minute so he's not in a great bargaining place. Finally, we need to get promoted this season so if it means investing a bit more than we'd like we can't afford not to, we can't just go for the cheap option.

He has his detractors like all the candidates but what you cannot argue against him is the fact he was the one who put Leicester City in the Premiership in the first place. Ranieri just picked up the ball and kicked it further. Claudio won the title but it was Nige' who put them in the Premiership which enabled them to win the title in the first place. He was one of the main guys who turned the club into what it is today. And it was he who gambled the clubs money on a talent from Fletwood Town.

He must have something about him that means he can turn clubs around and let's face it, it wouldn't take much, virtually a fraction of the effort he put in to making Leicester City a good club, to turn us around and improve us into something vaguely resembling what they started as when he was appointed which is more than good enough for me.

And what of his nature? It may not be Guy Fawkes Night yet but my fooking God do those players need a firework up their cowardly arses. They need some spark from somewhere to get them playing like a player who can beat teams and beat them well. And we need a manager who is no pushover, who can give as good as he gets, who makes it clear he and Sunderland AFC are not to be messed with. Not by the media and press and not by rival fans. Not by anyone.
Love the idea and I know it’s a different era now, but having a hard nosed team in the mould of Alex Rae & Kevin Ball again appeals to me and that starts with the manager ........Thou shall not pass...........😇💪😇💪

Always hated the bloke, however considering g the list of candidates and as long as Phillips was his number 2 it’s a yes from me. Then if and when he leaves Phillips can move into the managers role.

And we need a new nanager NOW. We can't wait till these new owners come in - should they do that - and splash the cash. We cannot wait that long.
there isn't going to be any new owners man. Maybe we'll have some small investment somewhere down the line, but for the foreseeable we have SD so don't expect any big names arriving here. Ross was on less than 5k a week and there's no way Pearson will come here on those terms imo

Quite surprised at the negative reaction to him mind, I think he'd be a good shout. They want a manager who has got out of this league, he has (and with a fairly big club so not totally dissimilar to us this season), he's then also proved he can get a side out of the championship. He seems to get commitment from his players, he seems fairly flexible in terms of formation etc as opposed to being stubborn with one favoured approach. In league one he'd be a very good shout imo, and if he brought Phillips that would be a positive as well as far as I'm concerned

What did you expect from this board?

Definitely the best realistic option for us.
