It was an absolutely sensational save.Every time I watch that first one I expect it to go in. It was a quite remarkable save - full stretch and the ball was behind him when he clawed it out.
He may well have got away with the first one if the finish on the rebound hadn't been so good. He should be doing better for it though. You must be logged on to see external linksthere's the highlights by the way. I think he'll be disappointed not to get the first one away. And tbh, whilst I wouldn't say the second is his fault, he'll probably think he might have done better with it. No absolute howlers imo though
Bravo Sir/Madam.Shame he didn't go there riff.... Dan Neil in the lions den has a certain Biblical ring to it!!
That's quite a lot of games for a 25 year old.Patterson is, always has been, and always will be, a bang average middle of the road Championship goalkeeper.
No more, no less, and it's hardly an insult before anyone starts.
He'll be 26 in a couple of months and has played around 180 senior games in his career.
He is what he is at this point.
If conceding 3 in one game shows he is an average championship keeper does the clean sheet in the following game showing a 100% clean sheet rate in that admittedly small sample of one game not prove he is the best keeper that has ever played at championship level?
Your daft bias started it
I think he's a very good Championship keeper - excellent stop stopper and good at claiming crosses. His distribution is what will stop him playing in the PL.
That's a long way from "average"
Every time I watch that first one I expect it to go in. It was a quite remarkable save - full stretch and the ball was behind him when he clawed it out.
Disagree. He improved massively each season with claiming crosses. That's literally one of his worst attributes. He hates to come off his line.
Where on this thread has anyone claimed he is world class ??Two good saves at Wembley doesn't make him a world class keeper. That's like saying Patrice Carteron is world class for scoring 1 goal against the Mags!
My daft bias?
Over a season 46 games he ranked 13th. So how is he not an average championship keeper when stats show he is?
It depends on how seriously you take your stats. Sqwarka have Dean Henderson as best keeper in the prem this season, Dubravka 4th ahead of Roefs and Raya bottom half.
Roefs is a very good goalkeeper but the metrics also show hes very protected by a good defense. That may change over the next ten games with current form.
Dubravka is having an excellent season dont let his newcastle career sway you.
Patterson played for the playoff winners with a defensive coach. He placed 13th in the metrics.
Nothing suggests he is anything above championship level. So much so hes now playing for a championship club.
yeah if he want to be the best, that area he need to learn, why cant he?It was an absolutely sensational save.
I think he's ok at shot stopping but has a habit of parrying the ball back into dangerous areas. I think his cross claiming is poor to be honest. He rarely came off his line and claimed the ball
Well yes he’s mid20s, can still improve. He’ll need to actually do it though. He was weak on crosses in league 1 and never seemed to really improve comparatively.yeah if he want to be the best, that area he need to learn, why cant he?
If you want to go by the same metrics that tell you Dean Henderson is the best keeper in the Premiership better than Allison , Donnaruma etc and Dubravka in the top 4 with Raya bottom half that’s fine. I’m not sure I can take the argument any further tbh.
Now you seem to have moved the goalposts a bit there as well. I think most would say he’s a good championship keeper and would agree that’s his level.
Raya?
Hes ok but hes protected again by a workman like arsenal side
You seem to pick on Dean Henderson for sone reason when hes an excellent premier league goalkeeper and i dare i say it at club level a better keeper than pickford.
A keeper with good stats in an expansive side that play open football is a very good goalkeeper showing how good Donnarumma is.
Patterson has not shown to be good in the chsmpionship yet. Statistically hes 13th. Made a number of clangers at safc.
At millwall we will wait and see. To say hes a good chsmpionship keeper with zero evidence to support it is a stretch
How many?Raya?
