Patto

I doubt he'll miss many, particularly due to red cards.

I'm not sure the model is have one season then sell them, to risk doing it all over again the next season.

He's not the finished article yet. He hopefully becomes that as our No1, over 2 - 3 years. If he leaves it's to one of England or Europe's elite clubs for daft money. Ideally in that same period we have established ourselves as a top half PL club and possibly European football. So if we are a stepping stone for players it's to the very top level.

Matty Young doing a couple of years in the Championship then back here. I've read reports from Darlington and Salford fans and the feedback is akin to Pickford and Young being a genuine generational talent.

What’s gonna happen with Patto do we think?

Seems he’s being an excellent professional but I don’t know if it’s good for his career essentially having a “season out”, that’s assuming Roefs stays fit of course.

Loan move in Jan perhaps if we can get someone else in?
Gotta improve and fight his way back in it’s as simple as that for me

I really feel for Patto, but other than Xhaka, Roefs has been the biggest on-pitch upgrade.

Guess it depends whether he's happy playing a Steve Harper type role for the foreseeable. Doesn't help that Roefs is younger too

Reckon he'll be away next summer. Needs to be playing regular football and he's not going to be doing that here at this level unfortunately.

Really frustrating we went out to Huddersfield in the cup. Would be great for the likes of Patto, o9, Neil, Mayenda brobbey etc to get some game time.
Aye it was disappointing. League form has made up for it of course but if we’re going to be establishing ourselves in the PL we should be making a go in the cups. It’s been too long.

I rate him massively, think he’ll end up prem with or without us (surprised he went back to league 2 personally) but there’s another lad Cowan who is mega highly rated.

Sorry but, imo, you can’t ignore ‘upgrades’ like Sadiki, Alderete, Mukiele and Diarra

Unfortunately home grown players = pure profit so I imagine you are correct
Never understood the term 'pure profit' for home grown players

As oppose to what?

If you buy someone for £10mill and sell for £30mill....thats £20mill pure profit

If you bring someone through the academy and sell for £20mill thats £20mill pure profit..

I really dont understand the difference?

I don’t think there is one, technically. It’s simply easier to make a bigger profit on someone you paid ‘£0’ for.

Hence Chelsea stockpiling ‘homegrown’ players.

Comedy bit is that you can register a 17 year old born and raised in another county and 3 years later call them home grown.

No lingering PSR issues or amoritisation of fees etc etc

By "pure profit" thats what they mean, on the spreadsheet only effects the profit column
