Patto

Hes been here a number of years and has never had a spell of games like this. He's clearly having a mare at the moment but its not a reflection of him as a keeper in general. He's just having a terrible spell that all players have from time to time. Cirkin has had it, Neil has had it, Ballard has had it but when its your keeper the mistakes are glaring.

So he should be taken out of the firing line.

I'd consider catching the ball above your head (and other players) is one of the basics. He's had this problem from the start (the game vs. Wycombe was horrible) and hasn't improved on it.

We can do better.

His deputy is a perennial reserve, as has been the case for years. I’m not for one second saying he’s been deliberately complacent, as I don’t believe that’s been the case, but maybe subconsciously he knows he’s in the team come what may.

I've never really agreed with this view on players.
Regardless of competition for places or not they surely don't want to go out and make mistakes week in week out

You’re right, they’re won’t. But if he’s let himself get slightly out of condition, as appears to be the case, it doesn’t scream being 100% focused.

FWIW, Patterson has never been great under massive pressure from balls into the box imo.
