Patto

Just seen this.

I've criticised the lad, but the club have let this happen under their noses. Surely the players health gets very closely monitored these days, with all the staff and technology.
Has he got the biggest tits at the club including all the lasses?

No matter how the weight has been added it will slow you down.
Keepers aren't natural players with the ball at their feet and to add that extra bulk has only hindered him.
I do think the coaching staff have been involved in adding that bulk to increase his physical presence.
It’s not weight, it’s ability. His level appears to be mid table Championship. We need to upgrade and move on. As I said before if he was bought for 100k in League One rather than from our academy he would have been dropped weeks ago.

Donald and Methven are the previous title holders.

Photo angles can be entirely misleading. These lads are measured week in and week out from V02 max to body fat levels. He is not out of shape (watch a pre match warm up) but he is low on confidence & has a touch of the introverts about him. Don't drop him, coach him. We have 2 keeper coaches on the staff! We have a Sunderland GK legend in the hospitality areas! Big him up, the 1:1 save at Wembley in the P Off final... etc He is the best we have got this season, if he has plateaued then we can cash in at some point and replace, but not this season, we need him, we need to back him.

Good post. That error yesterday was the mark of a keeper who's not as confident as he should be. As you quite rightly say, help him.

Photo angles ? Mate his kite is massive from any angle.

Look how the kit hugs his mid section. There’s bulking up with muscle and just being fat. He’s fat and it’s a disgrace for a professional athlete to have a gut like that.

I don't think any of his errors so far has been because he is carrying excess weight. If he is carrying excess weight then I think it's made no difference and whatever weaknesses he has to his game have always been there.

During his debut against Wycombe he struggled in a big way in the air. He's nit improved in that at all. The last few weeks he's regressed massively. The ball went out of play many times for player "treatment" I watched Pattison a lot during that time. Holding his hands behind his back staring at the ground. He looked lost. I think a lot of goalkeeping is in the mind and he looks to have lost it completely. It may be that he turns it around but he needs taking out of the firing line. My worry is that Moore is very poor himself, part of the reason Pattison is the way he is is due to lack of competition and guidance. We've many keepers on our books but none of the quality we need in the longer term.

Moore isn't as good a goalkeeper and will also make mistakes. It would be a pointless change.

None of this has anything to do with his weight, but it doesn't stop our supporters having a go at him for being fat.

I've not mentioned his weight though. If he continues to play he'll continue to get worse. Moore is poor, see my post. We've the squad our ownership wanted. Its not good enough.

I think he knows he was at fault for the goal and was beating himself up about it, despite having a decent game otherwise.

Yeah, I know you haven't. This thread is full of comments about his weight gain though.

But rather than being positive, going into a huddle with the rest of his team he stared at the ground in the middle of the pitch. It's clear he's lacking mental strength.

It is, for a reason. He's made himself a target comparing himself to other keepers at this level.
