Making routine saves is what he’s there to do. It’s just a shame he’s about 2 stone overweight, can’t claim a routine ball into the box, kick a ball, or communicate with the rest of the team effectively

All 'keepers make mistakes. Keeper errors tend to lead to goals. As mistakes go, yesterday's isn't in the Meslier class as there were mitigating circumstances in Roberts getting in the way / Pat not getting a call / ignoring the call. Patto should still have claimed the ball and must take responsibility for the goal.
To balance the error, he made two saves that were beyond routine. We were a bit below par across the piece. You can't win games if you don't score goals.
On a slightly different tangent, I vaguely remember seeing a stat that claimed we'd scored the most OGs in the division.

For me Patterson should have shouted 'Keepers" and went to claim the ball.
Roberts should have then ducked and let him get it, but he didn't he jumped for it meaning Patterson should have punched it clear and then he should have fukkin bollocked Roberts for getting in his way....but none of this happened unfortunately

He is not like your average keeper like, you just wish he would come out clatter a few centre forwards, go ballistic at his defenders if they make an error. He kicks and throws in to no mans land and just has a vacant look on his face. He is a good shot stopper but is definitely missing something to progress to being a top class keeper. Unless he does have some underlying issues going on because he doesn’t seem very happy.

Why are you blaming the player in front post man it’s the keepers error which it was at Leeds only twice. He’s way off it and needs dropping
It wasn’t whipped in at pace. It was an easy catch.
They should sit him in a darkened room and make him watch back to back videos of Jordan Pickford bollocking his defenders and commanding his area. I sometimes think he’s a bit mental but it’s very effective.

No one has mentioned the keepers coaching?
For two years we've been seeing countless balls going straight out of play. Him routed to his line at every opportunity. Never coming for a cross and this has remained constant. WHY?
He needs a rest.
He won't get one. Like Rigg Bellingham they are young learning the game and getting absolutely tortured by the management of this club.
I have never wanted him flogged, just to fight for his place back.

It’s blatantly obvious from the photos posted earlier in the thread that he’s overweight.
That will never happen in a month of Sundays. He stands there with a vacant look on his face and refuses to communicate with his defenders. He lets 09 make some absolutely dangerous and life threatening plays as well. “Keepers” is all he needs to yell.
I said it earlier in the thread but this lack of communication seems to be in his personality. I know it’s like marmite but look at how many club social media videos he appears in. He rarely does interviews, rarely interacts with anyone. I mean he’s treating it like a 9-5 job

Simon Moore needs to start the next game. Allowing Patterson to keep his place after 2 huge errors in the space of 25 minutes of football sends the wrong message to the squad. All players need to be accountable for errors.
As a matter of principle Patterson needs to learn. He has nobody to play against so knows it’s almost a guaranteed start for himself. This has to change come August if we don’t offload in a fire sale
