Patto

Do you seriously think that the club think it is a problem?
If it was, he would be fined and made to train with the kids until the ‘problem’ was sorted.
The club are at fault too then, what’s the excuse for him being overweight as a professional athlete?!

Obviously want him to do well and he has still been an excellent academy product to this point. However I can’t understand how his kicking hasn’t improved as it’s his technique in the way he cuts across the ball for his kick always seems to have fade on his long passes, it’s frustrating. An excellent shot stopper though who has saved us farm more points over the season than lost, very young in GK terms so plenty of time for improvement.

I agree, Overall he probably is an average Championship goalie. His shot stopping is exceptional while his distribution and box command is below par. Weirdly, his development seems to have stalled. He is still young though and it’s not unrealistic to assume he will improve under a new GK coach.
All the stats comparing him to the other Championship 'keepers suggest that he's significantly better than average - generally around 6th or 7th, so definitely above average. He's still young enough to significantly improve his weaknesses. He's at a similar point in his career to Ilian Meslier - I know who I'd rather have.

Of the half a dozen ahead of him are the keepers for Burnley and Sheff Utd. And they're fairly well clear of him too.

So we're weaker than our 2 nearest rivals in possibly the most important positions on the pitch.

I don't think the lads shite, I just think he's the weakest link in our strongest 11.

Viktor Johansson is above Patto and Stoke are about 30 points behind us. I'm not sure there is a sufficiently large competency gap to be desperately concerned about. I'm not sure what your point is, though, other than looking for a stick to beat Patto with. Meslier is way down in the GK stats, but, he's top of the league. It's not like Patto is throwing them into his own net on a weekly basis.

Point is a good keeper can be worth a good chunk of points over a season.

Replace Johansson with an average keeper and Stoke are in the relegation zone. Replace Trafford with an average keeper and Burnley are probably fighting for a playoff place. Give Either of those 2 keepers to Leeds and they'd likely be double figures of points clear.

As often in a thread like this there is some fair points and utter nonsense. The problem a lot of the time is that every time the ball hits our net there are people who can find a way of blaming it on the keeper. The second goal fair enough however there's no goalkeeper saving the first. A perfect delivery and no way of getting through a ruck of players.
Always easier to look for a villain to blame as it lets the efforts and organisational of the team as a whole off the hook.

There were multiple individual errors, some luck and possibly even misjudged tactical missed opportunities.

Roberts - tired tackle
Samed - off balance weak header and turned his back
Le Fée - jumped into a block and got done
Patto - misjudged punch
Their cross/miskicked shot - spawny
Le Bris - didn't react to the substitutions that saw Strujik come on into midfield. We'd all but lost the ability to attack by then and Leeds' tactics then became one of swinging crosses and dead balls in. Our defence had mopped everything up until that change and could/should have been countered by bringing on Mepham of Hjelder.

I love hindsight.

Dan Neil doesn’t close down, Patterson saves the shot, Mundle a sleep and let his man have a shot from 10yards.

So there’s no more?

Well he’s been criticised every week on here, If I actually gave a shit I would watch every goal he has conceded and would get back to you.

That’s if I actually gave a shit…

Patto comfortably in the divisions top 3 goalies. Same old tripe being parroted everytime we concede a goal. and when the arguments start its all about how shit he is with his feet and how he doesnt command his area. But its plainly bollocks. His passing isnt wonderful but i dont recall him giving a goal away by kicking it to the opposition or by being caught with the ball at his feet. And the old chestnut "he doesnt command his box" has been nonsense for 20years or so, None of them do. Theyre all coached to sit on their line. Hes also one of the best shot stoppers in England - his stats back that up. So all in all. PATTO ISNT THE PROBLEM
