Patto

I think he's crap and have for a long time. However, one point that might be worth making, if it hasn't been already - Most keepers stay on their line much more now, probably not as religiously as Patto, but much more than the old days. I think this is more than likely an instruction based on data and probability. What I mean is that data has probably shown that more goals are conceded by a keeper that comes for the ball than one that stays at home. If the keeper comes, flaps and misses 3 times out of 10, it leaves the goal very vulnerable for those 3 times. Whereas one that stays on his line will still be on his line and available to make a save.

It's not even being stuck to his line on crosses though, it's through balls and balls in behind too. Few times today where the ball has bounced in behind and he's stood rooted to his line and let the centre half's deal with it, instead of reacting to it quickly and coming to take it in his hands. Starting position is awful.

Rooted to his line
Parries a lot into dangerous areas
Communication non existent
Command of area not good
Dreadful with his feet

Really good shot stopper

Wouldn’t advocate for him to be dropped for Moore but if someone was daft enough to offer anywhere north of 7m for him I’d take their arm off.

Caveat Ive only seen the goal once, live from the south west corner however if people are blaming pattison for their second then they need to give their head a shake.

We allowed the cross to get in (mistake 1).
We had about five defenders in the box and two went up against their one striker and lost the header around the penalty spot (mistake 2).
The defenders allowed the ball to drop and bounce in the box about two yards outside the six yard box and wide of the six yard box (mistake 3).
Their goal scorer was unmarked in the box (mistake 4).
He then shot and scored.

What exactly was pattison supposed to have done to prevent this goal ?

Like I say, I think he's crap. I was just making a general point about keepers staying on their line. I probably chose the wrong thread to do it.

Command his box and catch a simple looping ball which Onien then headed in to danger but would have all been avoided if Patterson had just done what 99% of keepers would do routinely

I assume this is because if the second d goal where he stayed on his line. Is there a thread naming the defenders who did fuck all to deal with the ball in the box? Or is it easier to blame the keeper?
He's been outstanding in recent games but in a game where the team are awful and he could be partially responsible for a goal conceded along with others and a horror mistake by another defender for the first goal it sems Patto is the big issue here. Patto and Dan Neil are judged on a completely different level to every other player we have by loads of our fans.

We only had 4 centre backs on at home against the bottom team at the time but of course for whatever reason we were bricking it against them. No wonder they fancied their chances. Tbf when RLB has players available to select from its practically impossible to guess who he plays.

He’s dog shite unfortunately. If he was an outfield player turning in his performances he’d be getting slated. Also, for a young professional athlete he’s fat as fuck
