“Have I got the job then Mr Donald?”

“I’m afraid not Mr Pearson we’ve already given it to Peter Parkinson bwahahahahaha”

“you mean Phil?”

“oh yes but still bwahahaha”

James Fowler often used to do them, but nobody jumped to conclusions about Ross departing.

Fowler used to do some midweek cup games.

This was a Saturday afternoon league game in the midst of an 8 game winless run.

Parkinson should have shown balls and stood up to be counted.

We've allowed too many players to leave easily for financial reasons, and I'm going back to the start of last season as well. Those decisons , right or wrong, have turned us into a league one team. We know the owners wanted an impressive balance sheet to sell it, but keeping the likes of McNair or attempting to, might have sealed the deal last year in terms of promotion.

They've stripped it even more this Summer and this is where we stand. In hindsight, some are sticking to their principles and saying Ross should still have gone, but we just haven't replaced him correctly. Others will think Ross should have stayed as his record wasn't so terrible and he has just been having to deal with all sorts of shit apart from the football whilst making a fragile team hard to beat. The final alternative of bringing in Keane, Phillips, Pearson or anyone else with a more appealing name, may well have seen no change even from what Parkinson is doing. The players are not good enough to dominate this league.

It's ok saying they should be, but why would Flannagan, O'Nien, Dobson, Wyke et al be in a top side. The scouting has been abysmal. We would all love a new manager and new hope, we have seen it so many times. I've watched those SAFC FAN TV youtube vlogs and ofcourse everyone has an opinion, but it looks like patience is non existent. Not saying i'm any different, but we are going round in circles. Maybe the infrastructure is more important, but we want to get out of this league.

It won't be popular, but it's probable that the change in approach from Parkinson has upset the squad and caused all sorts of new problems leading to upheaval. Would Ross not have kept us in touch until the window came and the owners realised we needed to kick on with 2-3 purchases ? Right now under Parkinson, it looks like we need a whole new team !!! Then we will be back to square ZERO. We are in a rock and a hard place trusting a failing manager or shifting him out, only to find the next guy can't do much with the squad the owners were happy to reduce us to.

Overall, I'd say speculating to accumulate by at least trying to keep certain players at the club over the last 2 years, would have seen us a lot lot stronger. If we agree that the finances were far, far more important to get the club back on even keel, then we must try to be patient. An impossible task for us in league one.
