Parking fine

Parked where i usually park out the back of the retail park up on the block paving i think its next to the church gates . Parked their loads and been given a fine for parking in a restricted street .
Since when have signs been put up there ive never ever noticed them .
Anyone else encountered this lately ?
Others cars didnt have tickets on being parked a little further down before the entrance to the housing estate

Yes not overhanging the road and the curbs have no double yellow going up them so its only illegal to park on the double yellows if theres none on the actual kerb . I know its only 35 if I pay it early its just the principle
