Park and ride

I always find it weird, can someone please explain the point cause what I see when I walk to my car is -
People queueing to get on a bus
The bus slowly moving along stuck in traffic
The bus pulling up
People queueing in cars to leave where they’re parked
By this time I’m probably nearly back in Whitley bay.

Some people are probably limited on how far they can walk. My dad is similar if his knee is playing up.

Where do you park for it?
Don't look like anyone has actually answered your question so -

If you leave the A19 at the A1231 junction and head into Sunderland it is signposted from the second roundabout (you take the 3rd exit here). There are a number of works car parks that allow but some have 'No Match Day Parking' signs.
If you use one of the first car parks then its a long walk back or a long wait for a bus BUT you will easily get on a bus to get to the match.
If you wait and aim to park close to the Queen Alexander roundabout then its an easier walk back BUT unless you are there when the buses start then you will see a lot of full buses go past and you won't be very early to the ground.
Hope this helps.
