Some of our happiest Derby memories were helped by this man being in the oppposit dugout.

There is a clear pattern of his methods working at a club for twelve months then fizzing out. Worth a punt on a short term deal but not beyond the end of the season

Has immediate impact when coming in to a club halfway thru a season (charlton the exception).
Has good first full season.
Then, it all starts unravelling.
The bloke is not quite as odious a human being as Barton, but he aint far off. No thanks.

We've already had plenty managers who keep going on long winless runs. Its not the way forward!

Beggars can't be choosers.

Does the job for a year and a half, steadied us then got us to a cup final, our first in over twenty five years.

No manager will sign on a deal until the end of the season unless a massive bonus is in the contract for keeping you up. What if the new manager comes in on a contract until the end of the season, has a great season and then leaves? The board would get shit for allowing that to happen.
 
Always seems to have a decent season or two then the wheels come off. We could A LOT worse. But don't think he'd come in our current position.
