I think Harris is class. A very skillful bowler. Watching him live at Chester in the summer he's unbelievably quick.

So long as it is not Kevin Pietersen. Tredwell is not even in the team. Bell may be the only choice. How about getting a new coach to start with?
I think we need to appoint an Englishman like Vaughan,Hussain someone who would command instant respect and has a good cricketing brain who is in touch with the modern game.

massive burden on a young lads shoulders when he should be allowed to develop his game as an all rounder. Thats enough for him to work on at the moment. If they were going to chuck it at one of the young lads then Root would probably be the one. Im not sure that would be wise and Id doubt the management would do it anyway
I get your point and I have my own reservations about the idea for the same reasons. In the same breath you could argue that learning to be an all rounder then learning to be a captain would have a similar detrimental effect on him as it has had on Cook and, to a lesser extent, Strauss. Whereas chucking him in at the deep end now could be the making of him, if anyone can cope with that kind of pressure being put on them, it's him.

Swann was quite candid about who is captain/leadership material in his biography. Bell, Cook and KP were not in his list. Unless we do something drastic like bring back Colly then I think the only option is Prior and to trust he will come good with the bat.

stuff 30 years ago! Beefy now would have put up more of a fight
Beefy was part of the team that got thrashed 4-0 at home in 1989. I remeber him being bowled for a duck trying to slog the mighty Trevor Hones, then batting the next test at 8 or 9. Also a pretty poor captain. Like Flintoff he had fabulous natural talent but blew hot and cold.[DOUBLEPOST=1388355817][/DOUBLEPOST]
How about Michael Vaughan as the new coach. Wouldn't be against Broad as captain.

Joe Root, Jon Bairstow and all other Yorkies in his agency/patronage would be happy with that.

Anybody fancy going to whichever backwater airport they try to quietly skulk back into the country and pelt them with rotten tomatoes, as is traditional on these occasions?

Well they would be expecting a ticker tape parade if they'd won the fucker, so seems fair enough.

Imagine the aggro Clarke would have got if they'd been whitewashed.

I would not ask Swann the time of day.

Looking at the present squad I cannot see anyone apart from Bell. We could always bring in any x-public schoolboy who played in the Eton v Harrow match - good background, colonial type parents, "works" in the city and could get time off to play - Keep the MCC happy what!
