"Our squad isn't strong enough!"

Of course they're not!

That's why our owner and his team have went out and spent millions on players that they've identified as being better.

One of the main positives from last night is that two of those new recruits, Mukiele and Masuaku looked the part and could hopefully slot straight in, if needed.

Hopefully, the majority of last year's squad will just be bit part players and some of the younger ones will learn from the better players we've brought in and thus, will improve.

Our owners and RLB need to be cut some slack, though. They've given us a chance to survive and hopefully even compete in this league.

We need to keep our kegs (in both senses of the word) dry and see what the season brings. RLB identified the problem and (almost) addressed it in the second half, last night.

There's a long way to go but all of the usual suspects are back out in force, it would seem.

We’ve gone out and bought a new starting 11, which we needed, but we also need to buy a new bench. Signing 20 players in one window is some ask and very unlikely, but you can see why Forest did what they did.

Hopefully a few more come in before the end of the window, but once it’s shut we’ve got what we’ve got.

There’s also an emerging trend in which it seems some posters cannot accept any form of criticism of the side or a player.

Of course we all want SAFC to prosper and achieve the objective of staying up this season.

Last night was a chance for some of the players on the periphery of the first 11 to stake a claim for a starting spot. With the exception of a couple they didn’t take that chance.

For the side we put out last night to lose to what was effectively Huddersfield reserves was very poor and posters are well within their rights to point that out.

IIRC though NF bought a lot of $hite as well mind
It’s unreasonable to expect we have enough to buy a premiership quality bench
We have to hope ( rightly or wrongly ) that those who have written off messrs Patterson, Rigg, Neil, Isidor, Cirkin, Aljese, Mayenda et al,for no other reason than they are last years ‘toys’ are proven utterly wrong.
Yes Aljese and Cirkin have an injury ridden past. Maybe used sparingly till Xmas they will fill some of the void during AFCON.
For some with terminal pessimism the foregoing will be laughed off and dismissed.

There's reasoned criticism and there's calling people shite and demanding they be transferred or sacked.

People saying Mukiele "missed a sitter" clearly haven't played a single minute of football in their lives.

Post of the Year contender.

Sums up my views and those of others. It’s not pessimistic. It’s just the truth.

Mainly disappointing for me that the lads not getting starts or even coming off the bench in the league didn’t take their chance. Neil, Rigg and Roberts all poor for me and it should’ve been a great opportunity against a side two divisions below.

True but then some posters have a pop at RLB.

Have spoke to a few fans of other clubs lately who felt it was harsh to just buy a new first team pretty much and bench half of the team we had last year but last night justified it really.
It’s brutal but there truly is no sentiment for the individual. It’s a team sport. All the great teams move on accordingly. Having said that, we have practically the entire first team from last year still on the books. They have the chance to prove their worth to this incarnation of the team. Can’t say fairer than that.

It is poor to lose to Huddersfield but maybe just maybe RLB's tactics in the first half were a major factor.

To impress in these games the team has to be a functioning unit and when it isn't individuals will find it hard to stand out.

RLB was trying new players and new tactics at the same time, sometimes it's too much change all at once but he obviously decided that it would be a useful exercise and the result was less important to him.

This is one of the first sensible posts I've seen from you.

Keep it up. 😉
