Our Set Piece Coach

What was our shots or their gk saves stats. (2 keeper saves all game)
I still think we competed and we played well overall up to Brobbey holding the ball up. I don’t remember causing them any real problems from set pieces…
They watch Arsenal every game so I'd guess they were seeing the keeper fumbling, and struggling a little more than usual, the "tactics" they resorted to in order to stop Ballard?

A set piece coach doesn't just work on the attacking side, the best set piece side in the world didn't trouble us from set pieces at the weekend.
Perfectly fair point. And we have proved (at least at home mostly, very good at defending them. But we had quite a few attacking set pieces at Arsenal, and in many preceding games. My personal opinion is, we dont display a lot of inventiveness or variety in our delivery of same. Is your opinion that we are fine the way we're going with attacking set pieces marra?

My opinion is that our set piece takers are shite at taking set pieces and no amount of specific plans will help if they can't pick out their target.

If Le Fee, Xhaka and others are shit at delivering set pieces surely you’d create systems where we don’t rely on quality delivery? Eg: a short corner

Put Le Fee back on set pieces.
Angulo's one was promising.

But then you still have to put it into the box and pick out a target, and we don't see to get any help from refs as the opposition are just allowed to foul Ballard constantly.

But this is part of my point: we always with free kicks and corners just lump the ball to Ballard. We're becoming a one trick pony, and the opposition know just to flatten Ballard or shackle him. There's got to be a bit more to our game in this area.

It feels like we’ve got worse at set pieces as the season has gone on. Early on we looked inventive, corners were a real threat, and long throws helped us build pressure and create chances. Now that edge has disappeared. I saw a stat today saying we’ve scored the fewest goals from corners, and in this game we could barely beat the first man.

As for in our own box...because we’re a defensive team, we tend to concede a lot of set pieces, but earlier in the season we handled them well. We looked organised and solid. Lately, though, we’ve started conceding from them and we just look vulnerable.

We are shit at corners/ crosses so now we make every throw in like a corner/cross and do zip with them….

Wants sacking. Honestly stands on the touch line with his hands in his pocket and says nowt. Every set piece. They were better when AB was in charge of them.

Defended a couple horribly and showed less than nothing in an attacking sense with them, not great.

We actually had a class corner in the first half that gave Hume a clear shot on goal from the edge of the box but he completely sliced it, our direct corners and free kicks are shite though. No-one can put in a dangerous one.
