Imagine if someone had told you before that game that a few weeks later we'd sign Granit Xhaka and go into the final game of the PL season with a chance of making Europe
I distinctly remember the journey back home the next day and thinking about how we felt a mile away from being a premier league side and with no real prospect of competing at that level. Was chuffed that it likely meant new deals for Cirkin and Neil and that we might be able to get Le Fee and Mepham on permanent deals but in all likelihood we’d get turned over most weeks. Couldn’t have had it more wrong.

PS - I still can’t believe that Watson shot squeezed in. From behind the goal it looked like it was just going to go wide or even hit the post until it didn’t!!!!

To this day I can’t pass up any opportunity to watch it

Absolutely amazing video. Sat here with tears in my eyes ffs.
That goal is timeless and whoever stuck rocketman to this at the club is a genius!I have nee idea how tommies carreer will turn out but in 50 years time im sure his grandchildren will be watching this with pride ....in sunderland terms its a bit like englands "they think it is all over".."it is now" moment. Its stuck in time and will never be forgotten nomatter how much time passes.
