Open Letter To Ellis Short/Petition

For those who are saying that it will make no difference to Ellis Short - HOW DO YOU KNOW? Those who say that he's already doing his best to actively sell the club - HOW DO YOU KNOW?

You show as much pride and fight as some of the half-arsed players I've had the displeasure of watching in Red n White stripes the last few years. Do something, FFS, or accept you are part of the problem.

It doesn't claim to speak for all fans, though.

And I haven't said that people who disagree should stfu.

My issue is with people who can't find anything in that petition which they disagree with, but focus on things like the wording, or grammar, or bollocks on about being 'Mag-ish'. I genuinely find it strange how lots of people on here (which I understand isn't representative of SAFC fans because most on here never go to games) are so keen to try and prevent any form of protest.

"It is somewhat of an understatement to say we Sunderland fans are not happy."

It suggests that its speaking for all supporters and since it's not a poll there's nothing to do if you don't agree with the sentiment in the letter. Just not signing does not show you disagree, it shows nothing.

A serious question, did the members of RAWA vote for this open letter and its contents because I thought they were supposed to be a democratic group?

I agree with a lot in the letter but there's also a lot that's contradictory. I find it hard to complain about our turnover in Managers when a large group of fans called for most of them to be sacked.

The members of RAWA are always looking to make continuous improvement and will take any and all advice from these RTG members.

Just doing anything doesn't make you part of the solution or any less part of the problem.

What is it that the action you're taking is going to do to make the current situation any better?

Are you sure that the action you're taking won't make things worse?

The two problems that I can see are Ellis Short is propping up the club financially and he's almost certainly the only one stopping our external debtors calling in the Administrators and the other problem is this whole thing is divisive among our support which is the last thing we need now when we should be pulling together.

The members of RAWA are always looking to make continuous improvement and will take any and all advice from these RTG members.

Who's deciding what improvement needs to be made and how?

I'm not criticising but I am curious whether members were consulted about this open letter, surely they should be if it is a democratic group as claimed?

If there are going to be large scale actions like this then they should be professionally run and have a clear goal that everyone can get behind or they risk dividing our supporters.

It sounds a bit paranoid but I've had to start to conclude that the club have contributors on this site who will defend ES to the last.. some people seem completely unwilling to accept there has to be an alternative to this shitstorm we are witnessing on front of our eyes. They are so passive I have to worry for them in how they get through life. People must walk all over them.

I don't know what your issue is. That they have said that 'we Sunderland fans are not happy'. Do you take issue with that?

Which sentiments in the letter do you disagree with?

I've no idea what processes RAWA went through before this open letter was drafted. You'd need to ask them.

The reference to managers makes up four words in a letter that is 544 words long, and simply refers to 'a carousel of managers'. We've been through 9 managers in the last 5 years.

And that's the 2 probs you can see marra, but there is a huge bigger picture that you are not seeing at this time.

Almost guaranteeing the club going into administration and dividing our supporters seem like two pretty big issues, what's the bigger picture that I'm not seeing?

I accept people are angry and want to vent that anger, I'm with them there but I can't get behind something that has no goal to bring improvement and could actually make things a whole lot worse.

Its not like that - this big picture is we are heading for relegation to league 1 unless we get lucky (again)

Going well, picking up steam and getting attention from other clubs.

The media will follow like flies on shite and Ellis won't appreciate the publicity.

Well done OP and RAWA.

Indeed, small steps up.. soon as the media get wind who knows

I can't fathom why anyone would not sign the petition.
Are they happy with the ownership?

Signing a petition won't stop us from getting relegated
What will not signing it achieve?

It's the only possible conclusion, I'd like to see how many would admit to being content with the running of the club, as those people are also part of the problem

Impressed with the comments attached to the petition. Most are well written and heartfelt. A tribute to the quality of the average fan, and quite an improvement on the level of discourse here. A good reminder that this message board is entertaining but is a pale reflection of the tens of thousands of fans that are STID.

Fuck you. By all means have a go and a protest. I'm not defending Short, certainly. But don't you f***ing dare call our fans who take a different view as "part of the problem".

The fans are not the f***ing problem.

If you don’t agree you don’t sign. It will be passed on to the club along with the names of people who do agree.

‘We Sunderland fans’ basically means ‘We the undersigned’
