O'Nien at CB

Luke thinks he's in a wrestling match every week, qwhere its OK to use his hands. Unfortunately, he's not very good at hiding it like others are and refs are noticing it.

This "Onien is a master of the dark arts" is utter crap, and almost has the lad believing it himself, which is why he'll be sent off soon enough for a last ditch, reckless tackle or for throwing someone to the floor in the box. Take your pick.
 

When we do have other options for CH now, but are running out of options for CM (Ekwah and Jobe probably need a break - young lads do), it seems logical to move him there.
 
Is it just me or whenever I see Seelt play, I feel he has a look of Kirchoff to his game. I mean more his style of play, I'm not saying he's as good as.

I'd really like to see him get more game time though and even a shot at DM as I think Ekwah has been shocking of late.

Likable lad, who'll give his best, but he's not the answer at CB whilst there's two sat on the bench. Again, on Saturday his arms were all over opposition players, trying to over-compensate for his lack of height and strength against bigger opposition. Its always feels like last ditch tackles with Onien.

I don't expect it to change this season seeing as tho Mowbray made him captain. Maybe an unsurprising sending off could see things change for a few games before Tony reverting back.

It’s basically this, Mowbray has seen both Seelt and Triantis do well, and we won, but No, as soon as 09 is able to play he’s right back in, how this reflects back on the squad, must be frustrating for the players who have come In and performed.
 
Aye, it’s time to evolve the team.

Seelt and Auochiche are big signings for us - it’s time to get them in the team.

Seelt for O’Nein.

Aouchiche for Ekwah, who is off pace.

Pull Jobe back and Neil as two DM pivots. They are more tactically disciplined, if instructed to play that way.

Cirkin in at LB. Let full backs overlap. If people want to keep Huggins in team - and I know many do - let’s have a debate between him and Hume. I still prefer latter, but am easy.

Yes, it’s a more rigid and tactically basic 4-2-3-1. But the hybrid system isn’t working well.

Mayenda gets the nod up top as well.

Still think it comes down to basic communication skills between Mowbray/coaches and the foreign lads tbh.
I'm convinced we'll see a foreign coach take over next season.
 
He’s not a championship quality centre half rash in the tackle silly bookings and grapples at every corner but Mowbray is going go pick him every game. So it’s a bit of mute point really.

As is supposedly good enough on the ball to make up for those shortcomings I don’t agree but the managers has nailed his colours to the mast.
 
Weird one is O Nein, I like the lad and he is a good addition to the squad. I'm just not sure he's the best in any position he plays but offers a lot in that he can play almost anywhere if needed cover.

I think we have so e defensive problems in that we don't have a proper DM (which along with a striker is something we've needed for about 4 windows now) and then you have the likes of Hume who like to play well out of position at times and can leave us very open, especially on the counter.

Overall I would say Batth and Ballard were a better pairing than Ballard and O Bien so we've weakens out defence since last season. I guess the question now is how long before either Seelt or Triantis can take to take his place, if at all.

Most likely the case, we have certain players on the bench, who for example were at bigger clubs, who have come here, and yet can’t seem to get in the team, I keep wondering what the excuse will be with Pembele when he gets fit, and what about Aliese, two players who could frankly be premier league players in the not to distant future.

He is CB or nowhere for me. Thought he was poor in the League One promotion season in midfield - he gets too embroiled and dragged all over compared to when the game is played in front of him.

I think he's generally done quite well in defence too but is not without his faults. My perception of him was that he tended to win a lot of headers but when I looked at the stats he is nowhere near - something like 50% last season compared to Ballard and Batth who were closer to 90%. His positioning for Stoke's first and Plymouth's second were extremely questionable, plus obviously being out jumped by James Justin.

This...The Plymouth player was the one fouling 09 in the first place and as far as I could see 09 was trying to defuse the situation and their players over reacted. Its funny but when fans talk about Bally or Cattermole fouling in games over the years its seen as a badge of honour yet with 09 its a liability. The bigger issue for me was the Fact that we had 24 shots and 14 corners on Saturday and couldn't score, yet Plymouth had 2 shots on target and Patterson didn't get a hand to any of them. Everyone has a right to their opinion buts its got to be balanced IMO..
