One bad result

Thought we’d win today

Gutted we didn’t

The football gods have smiled on us for the past 4 games so obviously had to dish out a bit of shit on us

Murgh

Burnley are a well run club too.

They got it spot on today - no complacency, happy to play on the counter at home, played to their strengths and didn’t panic.

Think they’ll surprise people this season. I’d give them a better chance of survival than Leeds anyway.

The team, recruitment etc isn’t a disgrace or pathetic. That was a really really poor performance though. Slow, created next to fuck all and fluffed the chances we did create.

Striker is a real issue for me. Mayenda just wasn’t in the game save for the sitter he missed. CB too, Seelt is a bomb scare.
I don’t think we create enough in general. So when we do we can’t be missing absolute sitters. Mayenda had a mare today. Was just him but we just struggle against low blocks. When we went a goal down our approach just didn’t change. Burnley were not going to come out so press them. Have a go.

Dress it up how you like, but that just wasn't good enough today, against a limited team, who'll be down amongst the dead men, long before Christmas.

After a decent first half, there was a clear lack of intensity & creativity from us, in the 2nd half today.

One good game one poor game, hey ho

We can learn that being half-arsed and not pressing hard meams that you are not in the race

Ps also got to take your goal scoring opportunity when it arises

So onwards and upwards

Tuesday not that bothered, give other lads a run out.

Thought we were alright 1st half but 2nd half wasn't acceptable. Piss poor
Same. Thought we were measured in our play, looked very comfortable and should have been one up. 2nd half was shocking. Didn’t lay a glove on them.
Agree with that. Its a difficult one for Mayenda or bringing through any young striker because they realistically are going to feed off scraps. But they need to offer a bit more than he did today in general play. I don't think Isidor would offer anything else as realistically he's usually only effective when running towards goal himself.

Burnley restricted a lot of build up play around him and most of what we created were crosses earlier in the game. They seemed happy for us to go wide and even were doubling up with Walker and Larsson first half.

Central defence is a bit of a nightmare really, without Ballard who we know is injury prone, we lack real dominance.
Both Mayenda and Isidor are poor when teams play a low block. Hopefully Guiu can offer something different. I don’t buy into this whole there’s only Burnley going to play like this against us. We need to have a plan b to counter teams sitting in. Some teams we will be able to press. At 1-0 we should have mixed it up.

I agree. We weren’t exactly creating a bucket full of chances in the championship either.

I know xG isn’t popular on here, but 0.6 in both our games so far shows we aren’t creating enough.

Stayed off the match thread and watched with my own eyes. We got taught a similar lesson we gave West Ham last week. Maybe a few of our players got lured into a false sense of security, much like a lot of my mates when speaking to them before the game.

The main disappointment for me today is to give the 3 points to a team that we will be battling to stay up with. Just got to put it in the bin and focus on next week.

Think a good few of the first team need to be playing in the cup games. We're nowhere near a settled side yet and they need time on the ball to gel.

Probably not a bad idea that tbf.

No, less, and on top end championship mostly, I hold ourselves to higher standards of recruitment.

I don't know what the second sentence means
The second sentence means , do you think Burnley shouldn't win a game all season?
Is that reasonable to think that ?
We are a bottom half prem team, playing away, against a team that spent similar to us and brought in free transfers like walker and the ex mag keeper on big wages
A team that were by far better than us last season
We arent Liverpool

So where are the 40 points needed coming from if thats your attitude to facing Burnley?
