On the beach or sussed out?

It wasn’t me who suggested it marra. The poster I was replying to said he’d see us relegated to fulfill his dream of seeing us in Europe.
That's not quite what I said.

I just don't agree with this "don't want to qualify for Europe we are not ready" arguement.

To be clear I want to qualify and think we would still stay up.

We could not qualify and get relegated. Who knows. But take our chance if we can.

This is why I don't want Europe qualification this season - we are nowhere near ready, squad wise, to handle it.
We werent ready to go up 12 months ago. Looked how that has turned out.

This let's wait until we all die before European football stuff needs to get in the bin.

If we're good enough to qualify then bring it on we've got an entire summer to sign more players.

If we don't make it will be gutting as the chance was there but will still be a great season regardless.

I think the intensity in our game has definitely dropped off. Whether thats fatigue, by design, or players prioritising the WC etc who knows, but we aren't the same team aggression-wise.

I also think RLB is making some questionable calls with his selections....not sure what Geetruida needs to do to get a game.

Very much of the opinion what will be will be. The players look a bit jaded, we have square pegs in round holes and a pretty thin bench but the main job is done. Nobody knows what the summer transfer business will look like, we could end up much stronger - or we could get plundered and be unable to replace like for like.

It's been a fantastic season surpassing what most of us could have predicted in our wildest guesses of what was to come, can't wait to see what next season offers. Looking forward to a premier league campaign for the first time in what feels like a lifetime.

Amazing how the criteria of success changes as a season goes on: when we got promoted it was not being the lowest ever PL points total, then as we brought players in it became finishing 17th, then it was keeping away from the relegation fight, then it was being top half of the table, and finally, qualifying for Europe.

We’re 12th, we’re safe, we’ve beaten the Mags home and away, and had some life-time highs along the way. It’s been an unbelievable season, the problem is we don’t view it from our expectations last season, we view it in terms of where we hoped we’d be now last month.

Oh, and we’ve got Granit Xhaka as our captain. Remind yourselves of where we were this time last year, and I promise you we’re really not doing all that bad.

As I pointed out though the club would have around £30m less to spend on strengthening the squad for all those extra games than if we don’t qualify for Europe. Not an easy ask.

Bit of both but mainly we've flogged most of the starting 11 to death this year
Flogged to death behave yourself man. They will all have played no more than 40 games for us. Xhaka Mukiele Reinildo Brobbey etc are all used to playing midweek European football. Flogged to death jesus wept

Intensity has definitely dropped but we were never going to be able to sustain the from till December as much as we could have dreamed.

Great season and all deserve a pat on the back from the recruitment team, manager and players down.

Interesting summer ahead, hang on to the nucleus of the squad and 3/4 quality additions should be the goal

Lack of squad depth has been showing for a while. Would have breezed today's game with 11 men on the pitch.

our early season form was built on a strong defensive structure, we’ve never been great going forward but we grounded out results, now that structure has gone to shit even before Ballard went off Wolves seemed to finding a way through.

I’d play Mukiele and Alderete at centre back next game, Hume right back and I’d like to say Reinildo but he doesn’t look the same player lately.

I thought we over performed during AFCON it was when we had everyone back the players started to breakdown, we lack intensity now hopefully the players raise their game next week

Unlucky/unfortunate today. We'd have won at a canter of that bloke had sensible hair.
I think all long hair below the shoulders needs to be in a ponytail/hair bundle. Other players in the league do this it should be a PL rule just like wearing your uniform to work.

Bit of both for me. Style of play will have to evolve next season. Think this is why RLB has been a bit more attacking in recent weeks.

Hasn’t gone well for us though. Our previously almost impregnable defence leaks like a sieve. I think the change of tactics has unsettled the players a bit tbh.
