I think we're probably going to be pretty defensive this season, though. Might be useful to have a bloke in there who is used to being under the cosh and coming out with a clean sheet.

That's why they were also the second lowest scoring team in the league

Easier to be solid, if your midfield all sit back and don't try and get forward tbf.

Like we've seen it before where teams like Bolton make defenders look good because their midfield doubles up with them, and when they go to more attacking teams they struggle as they have less support.

I'm not sure we are going to be a more attacking team, though. Xhaka and Sadiki seem quite deep lying,

Easier to be solid as a unit.

Personally don’t see a correlation with individual stats.

That's what I mean. They were set up by their manager to play ultra defensive football, making it easier to look good as a defender.

That’s good, we’ll be clinical when given the chance. I don’t think we’ll play a very defensive style; instead, we’ll focus on a counter-attacking approach combined with high pressing intensity. With so many young players in the squad who are energetic and aggressive off the ball, we can press high up the pitch to force turnovers and quickly transition into attack.

Tactically, we’ll likely use a compact mid-block when out of possession, then trigger the press when the opposition tries to build from the back. Our full-backs will push high to support the press, while our midfielders will look to intercept and immediately release the ball to our pacey forwards. This setup allows us to exploit spaces left behind by teams trying to play through the press
