As I keep saying it is a massive call from him. I hope he realises how much credit he will get by giving Diamond a run and also how much shit he will get if he benches him.

aye, thought the same with our caretaker. the difference in feeling of the fans (and i know a manager picks a team to win the game not please the fans) but it would be such a lift seeing the likes of diamond, neil, embleton in the side

Job done, I suspect Oldham are garbage, but I thought we were all the way up to poor going forward and just very poor otherwise, so a huge improvement overall. Patterson redeemed himself for letting the goal in with a some decent saves. A few decent moves and a couple of competent crosses.

Think the key is getting people around the main forward. Grigg, Graham and Wyke are not going to score without any support? One of the 3 midfielders needs to get in the box. I would personally would prefer Power to get forward.
We were a bit better in that regard, for the most part. But we need to do more.

Well, okay. I was quite pleased up to about the 70 minute mark and then it got unnecessarily hairy. Oldham were bound to have a go, but we were pushed back and made some sloppy passes.
But a win and I'm glad.
We took off two of our more technical footballers and added two of our last technical around that time. All a good learning moment for Johnson.

Pace and energy in the midfield is sadly lacking again tbh and it doesn't look like LJ has any intention of changing that at the moment. Frustrating as owt for me.

How would he go about doing that?

This place is unbelievable

Yet again no end product for our chances. We could have easily have had to go to penalties. Johnson has not improved us.

He has improved us by giving everyone a chance,
It's blatantly obvious tonight is an improved performance,
Jack diamond has earned a start on Saturday after tonight,
If he doesn't then you'll have a point

By you know giving one of them a minute on the pitch. I've said it's early days and he hasn't had time to assess the players but Dobson has moved back ahead of Embleton already.
